The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (Illustrated) for $0
This is not the usual perennial classic, this version is illustrated!
• Includes all 104 original illustrations by Sidney Paget done for the Strand Magazine
• A brief introduction
• Biography and selected bibliography of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
After Arthur Conan Doyle introduced Sherlock Holmes in the novel A Study in Scarlet in 1887, he wrote a series of twenty-four short mysteries featuring the detective and his colleague, Dr. Watson, in the pages of the Strand Magazine from 1891 to 1893.
THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES collects the first twelve of these tales—including “A Scandal in Bohemia” (which introduces Irene Adler), “The Red-Headed League,” “The Five Orange Pips,” and “The Speckled Band”—some of the greatest stories in the Sherlock Holmes canon.
Awesome! I love having the old school illustrations. It makes it so much more like a legit book.
Love it for free. Thanks!
@dl8: Absolutely agreed! =)
@reginafilangee: You're welcome, enjoy. :D
Seems like making it clearer that this is just for the Kindle would be a good idea...

@gewoodworth: I have the Kindle App on my Android. I would guess it's available for every other device.
Just downloaded it to my Android phone. Works perfect. It's not just for the Kindle.
I set up an app on Amazon that states "Kindle for PC"; I can also download to my Android phone.
About 75% of these books on Amazon CAN be downloaded to your computer or phone!
Thanks for posting!! Time for some summer reading!
If you want it in an audiobook, librivox.org has it for free: http://librivox.org/the-adventures-of-sherlock-holmes/
@meems212: Thank you very much. I've been meaning to pick these up!
@jha1223: You are very welcome! =), enjoy
I downloaded the book with no apparent problems. I'm viewing it with Kindle for PC (I don't have an actual physical Kindle device).
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I don't see any illustrations. I have clicked through, using the right arrow, up to "Adventure III" but all I see is text.
Do I need to do something special to see the illustrations?
Thanks all!
@crowbite The illustrations display fine in both my 'Kindle for PC' and my actual Kindle device. There are a couple of drawings in just the first several pages. Beats me. Maybe there is some option that disables images? shrug
@mikemtn: I know this is a bit late, but I just meant that it might be good to clarify that it's an e-book for Kindle and Kindle apps, not a regular book for those of us that may still prefer paper.
