I had to laugh. I JUST got this model for a gift, and I haven't yet made any ice cream, since I keep getting home late. However, it's like any other < $200 Cuisinart; it has a bowl you need to remove and keep frozen to make anything. Already seriously considering buying a spare.

Also, a dash of alcohol in the mix will keep the ice cream from freezing way too hard if you store any after making it.

This is a pretty good deal, the cheapest place I could fine it online through google shopping was, of all places, the Home Depot; and even then, it's $69 + $4.83 tax + $9.49 shipping (to NJ), for a total of $83.32.

This is cheaper than at the manufacturer warehouse sale($50). Takes about 30 mins to make 2 cups of soft-serve-DQ is much easier!

Nothing beats the flavors available in home-made ice cream! With salt & ice costs increasing I would consider trying this to keep costs down.

I bought one of these a little while back on clearance for $40.. love it. It makes plenty for a family of 5. The recipes it comes with are SO RICH that you can't eat all that much in one serving.

There is a small window of time between when the ice cream is ready to serve and when it gets too hard and the machine shuts off.. but then you can scoop it out afterward. A lot of people have had problems with the ice cream not freezing properly.. I actually had to turn the temp down in my freezer to fix this. The bowl needs to be -completely- frozen when you take it out of the freezer; no noise when you shake it.

ewwww, but it says that it is refurbished. I really want a icecream maker, but I am a germ-o-phobe when strangers have used something like this.

For what it's worth, I have this ice cream maker - and I LOVE IT!!!
I invested in the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and Dessert (recipe) book. Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. all carry the book....I now make better (and alot cheaper) ice cream than I can buy at the store.
