Interesting. I recently switched to Republic Wireless, which lets me use a smartphone with wifi without a data plan. It's a great upgrade from my dumb phone, but obviously relying on wifi is quite limited. I've thought about looking into something like this, but didn't figure they would be worth it for me. This would be a great deal because as often as I'd use it I'd never run out of data, and I know it would be there if I needed it. Unfortunately, no coverage in my area. Might have to consider something like this in the future though.

I bought a Karma last year to replace a Sprint hotspot. Sprint was $60 a month for 5 GB use it or lose it. The Karma is pay as you go. It was a no brainer. The Karma has worked great and saved me a lot of money.

This is an excellent deal. LOVE my Karma. Also allows you to earn free data just by sharing your connection. Would highly recommend buying one.

I already don't trust this company. They advertise as whenever, wherever, which can't be possible, then when I look at my local area, they say 100% of Cincinnati is covered but I see gaps all around me on their coverage map.

Sadly, this is the failed WiMAX technology that some people can receive. You need to be able to receive at least 50% signal strength for it to work.
These 'pucks' will become obsolete within a year as everyone transitions to LTE. FreedomPop was pushing these same WiMAX pucks for $15.

4G is not LTE people! Good luck to you.

So I get 4 Gigs a month with Verizon coupled with 500 text messages for $30 in my plan, granted I picked up the 4GB during a promotion, double the data. Additional GB's are $15. Verizon is well established and has a good reputation. I can tether my phone...who does this benefit? Oh well, hopefully someone.

Where did you find the Verizon deal ?? The best I found on-line is $60/ month with unlimited voice & text and 1GB (single line plan)

I finally dumped my Verizon "dumb" phone and didn't renew my contract! I went on a prepay plan with Verizon and bought a refurbished Motorola G for $99 and I get unlimited talk and text with 1 gig a month free data for $45 a month no contract! extra gigs of data are $10 each and last for 90 days. If you don't want to pay for extra data just use it on free wifi at Starbucks or at home etc.

@colbytitus: Hey there! Regarding our coverage, we recommend using the zip code of the locations you are looking to use Karma at. This provides a much more in-depth look of that specific area.

@jdmac44: Hey JD! Karma is based on a pay-as-you-go model, so there are no monthly contracts or fees. The data you purchase for your account can be used whenever and never expires. It is great for traveling, backups, and anyone that simply wants WiFi when they are out and about, but don't want to be tied to any contract or any specific amount of data. Also, with Karma there are no fees for non-usage. Unlike a contract, if you do not use a specific amount of data that month, you are not wasting any money. And with our sharing feature, you can essentially never have to pay for Karma anymore after the initial purchase.
