I guess this gives the phrase "relaxing in a secluded cabin" a whole new meaning.

Continental peanut breakfast?

the (not quite) mile high club?

You got to admit that would be pretty dope.

looks like mosquito heaven...

I'd rather stay in an air conditioned tree house for $300. (saw it in one of my magazines)

hey, my university just paid for my trip to Costa Rica over winter break. We stayed at a eco-lodge @ San Luis, right by Monteverde. Best thing ever, hiking all the natural trails, swimming in the waterfall up at the cloud forest...

I'll reserve a 3 day weekend right now if I get the inflatable escape hatch slide to use . . .

Why don't they tell you about the bloody cannibals with 50mm blowguns? I still have darts in my a..!

This looks amazing, what a great idea. Just think of all the screaming monkeys you will see!

I've actually seen this exact place of the side of the road, not too far from the gorgeous beaches and national park of Manuel Antonio. It's a really bizarre sight. Not only are the beaches nearby one of the nicest in Costa Rica, but it seems to be where all of the beautiful girls go :) And I say that as someone who's been all throughout the Pacific coast of the country.

did anyone else realize that these are 2009 rates?

vote-for2vote-against

While it's a truly unique experience, it's really expensive for Costa Rica. I'd suggest that you check out this place instead:

Fly there to stay in a plane. Hope they have a business class upgrade.

damn... that would have been fun to rent.

That's fairly new... I spent a weekend in Manuel Antonio and hung out at Costa Verde every day. It's a great resort. They have a great restaurant on site where the monkeys come out of the trees and hang out with the guests while they're eating. It's awesome.

Do you get first class for $400 or is that coach?

Isn't this what Romancing the Stone was based off of? Some crashed airliner in a jungle somewhere? Does it come with Kirk Douglas?

vote-for1vote-against

That would be Michael Douglas, Kirk's son.

Pretty sure it is $400/US. They strongly prefer US dollars in CR since their currency is very unstable. Agreed though, that $400/night is quite expensive for CR; even luxury villas don't charge that much. CR is a pretty inexpensive vacation compared to other countries.

That is freakin' suite!!!!! But no I will never pay 400 a night, especially in Costa Rica....

@cleverett: Puerto Viejo and Manuel Antonio are completely different parts of the country, with very different atmospheres. I suggest people research the areas before deciding on where to stay. I have never been to the Caribbean side, such as Puerto Viejo, but have been to Manuel Antonio, which is great.

Check out http://www.quepolandia.com/ for more information about the Manuel Antonio area.

Can we send Rush Limbaugh there?

@threepiecewoot

Do those prices include a local village girl with silicone already installed?

Quote from the banner: "Costa Rica: Still more monkeys than people."

That is so insulting that I'm going to paint it on a banner the next time the US soccer team plays Costa Rica.

I've stayed in this suite. Actually a great deal. It is 2 bedrooms - so can accomodate a large family easily. I stayed with my 4 kids and they loved it
