I wish it was the extended version for this price.

I snagged this deal for 12.99 on black friday at Target. This is still an amazing deal!

One deal to rule them all, one deal to find them, one deal to bring them all and in the darkness buy them!

Now the real question is if these include the extended and uncut scenes, because I want that on bluray, not the theatrical versions.

@wetbo: nope, this is the regular edition, here's what the extended edition looks like:

Gonna echo on this one. The extended version has not yet been released on Blu-ray. So this is definitely NOT the extended version. Also, the reviews note that the 1st film in this trilogy was poorly transferred.

no deal if not extended... I wanna spend 14 hours on the couch watching these!!!

This is not the extended version. Extended version on blu ray releases 6/28/2011

@wildman354: Note that Amazon has a pre-order on the blu-ray extended editions for about $85 (down from $120). I pre-ordered and got a note from Amazon that the set is due in June (I think...).

Anyway, I'd say there's no sense in buying, much less even watching the theatrical versions of these anymore.

Edit: Amazon says it's due to be released June 28. Here's the link:

2nd Edit: Wow, if I would actually read other people's comments before posting, I'd see that they already gave the same information I did...

Surprise, surprise...more whining about it not being the extended version.

@jasjr78 It's not a Peter Jackson film if it isn't 4 hours long :)

This post reminded me to check Amazon for the extended edition, and I was delighted to see a release date!
