this is not easy to install. i've put on a keyless entry on my car and it took forever. i dont recommend anyone else to install a keyless on their own, let alone a remote starter. you will have to bring to to bestbuy and pay them around $200 to install something like this.

@kevintsai1989: Seriously? That's disappointing. DH "likes" to do the DIY thing, but gets pretty easily frustrated. Guess I'd better research some more before I pull the trigger.

@belyndag: maybe i'm just stupid when it comes to cars, but there is alot of wiring to take care of. reaching the locks is easy, just take off the door panel, but for the remote starter, it onvolves taking off the entire dash. maybe youcan find a cheaper place to get it installed, but bestbuy offers this service for $200

I like to think I'm a pretty handy guy but with this sort of thing, you really need to know what you're doing. Especially with newer cars which just keep getting more and more complicated. One wire wrong and you can get yourself in some pretty big trouble! When I get a remote starter, I'll be prying my wallet open a little farther and pay somebody experienced to install it.

This system would be fine for pretty much any car from the 90's and early 2000's. Main problems for remote start are starter interrupts to prevent hot wiring. Main problems for replacing stock door poppers for after market are some cars, I especially remember ford trucks being a pain, is that the doors use a certain resistance to activate the alarm and not just a +12V signal. If your car has no alarm system this would be really easy if you have had relevant experience and can follow a simple map.
