I don't actually have cable, but I do have a SmartTV hooked up to my computer. The only thing I'd want to watch on cable during the fall is football, so this is perfect. The way I see it, I get the game for it's $60 value and NFL Sunday Ticket Max for $40 instead of it's original $300 tag. Not a bad deal.

@sausey: Agreed...I couldn't argue this logic myself, and bought it.

I'm still not convinced that you can get the Sunday Ticket without Direct TV service.

"For fans who are not currently DirecTV subscribers but are able to receive DirecTV service, they will receive a promo code entitling them to $10 off per month for their first year of service and one year of NFL Sunday Ticket Max at no additional charge."

Seems like if it is available in you area, you have to subscribe.

"For fans unable to receive DirecTV service, each Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition will include a unique code to access the 2013 regular season (17 weeks) of NFL Sunday Ticket on computers, tablets, and mobile devices- including access to the award-winning Red Zone Channel."

Too hard to tell.

@mdossing: I thought the same thing - worst case, I'll just tell them I don't own a TV. They can't argue that you need to go buy one. I just want it for my computer. What sold me was the FAQ where it said:

Q: Do I need a DirecTV subscription to access NFL Sunday Ticket?
A: No, it's not necessary to have a DirecTV subscription. Each Anniversary Edition includes a code that can be redeemed to access the full 2013 regular season (17 weeks) of NFL Sunday Ticket on computer, tablet, and mobile devices.

I wonder if you would be able to stream the Sunday ticket from your Android device to the new Chromecast?

@sausey: Good point. I may have to bite the bullet :-)

@mdossing: I called DirecTV myself recently and asked this very question before I ordered this over a month ago. They assured me that even if I can get DirecTV, I don't have to subscribe to use this deal. I can just display NFL Sunday ticket on my Computer, iPad, etc.

I ordered this a couple of weeks ago and I don't have Directv. I had the Sunday ticket for the past two years through my PS3. Directv would offer the Sunday ticket as a stand alone service to PS3 owners for $250. They wouldn't sell it until about a week before the season started. I was going to do that again this year until I saw this. Much better deal as I already have my PC connected to my TV.

Anyone know if you can get Sunday Ticket on Roku? Lots of rumours and speculation on google, but has anyone got it and through what channel? (edit: Looks like not...http://cordcutterguide.com/nfl-on-roku-not-yet-try-chromecast/)

@meh3884: No.

It only works on mobile devices or PC. No game consoles, roku boxes etc.

Though Chromcast may work. The jury is still out on that one.

I wonder if they disable the video out on the app.??

Saw this deal last month. The way I see it, I might just sell the game and keep the subscription. Bwahaha.

@daveofva: lol I'm giving the game to a friend for his birthday - I don't even own an Xbox or PS3 :P

@sausey: Same here...since I live in an apartment complex; I cannot sign up for DirecTV even if I wanted to; so I'm in it purely for the tablet/computer/phone access...I would have paid $99 just for that experience then to get Madden 25 on top of it...ICING...say it with me...ICING ON THE CAKE!

I got it. I've already activated it and installed the iPad app. The iPad app plays a little video and then says the season starts on Thursday and to come back then.
