Wife has been wanting a tablet to keep the kids occupied on an impending cross-country move and this finally hit the "So cheap I can't say no and won't be terribly upset when a new wave of impressive tablets come out in a couple months" mark. Also hoping the chunkiness and grippy cover will serve to make it more kid-proof than your average tablet.

We got this the last Woot (not 2 days ago) for $20 more but still worth it. very nice tablet for a couple people to watch Netflix, nice viewing angles. Has Honeycomb which is nice but new learning curve. We plugged it in to a HD TV to watch Netflix with a standard cable and worked well. Also the standard USB port with keyboard, mouse, and jump drive works great too. Charges super quick, probably due to its bulky charger. The battery is accessible and you can carry a 2nd.

Complaints-
Bulky- to me it is more a netbook than tablet. Charger is a laptop type charger too and it cannot be charged by mini USB, not even as a trickle charge.

Overall, a good buy especially if you want the bigger type tablets or you want something a little more than a tablet.

I bought the 32gb refurb version from onesale back in December for $299.00. It took nearly 3 weeks and I had to root it get it to update. Other than those little blips, it works great and I am happy with the purchase.

That was my first time to modify or root any electronics and from following the directions from the thrive forums, I had no problems. The whole process took maybe an hour.

The tablet itself is not really heavy, but when you add a thick leather case, it does get a bit bulky. Also, it functions in between a smart phone and laptop. I write papers and do school work on my laptop, but have largely quit using my iphone for anything other than calls, texting, music on the go, and podcasts.

I also allow my kids to play with it. I don't expect the screen to survive a drop to the hardwood floor without some kind of protection. Also, if you are used to Apple asking for a password everytime you want to make a purchase, be aware that there is no setting for that on Android.

OK, I bit. With PayPal Pay Later, I figured at $70 a month I'd have this paid off before the Tegra 3 models come out-- it'll be a good way to determine if I want to sink more money into these tablets.

I have a Nook Color and while it's fine for an e-reader and email, I don't like to do much else with it because the screen is so small. Maybe a 10" will be better-- at this price, it's hard to lose.

Description says this comes with 3.1. There are reports around the web of some issues after upgrade to 3.2 (available since Nov '11). There seems to be no simple roll back process, so be sure you need it before doing the update.

Got mine yesterday. It is a 16G B as listed in the headline. It is working great so far. I especially like that it has (a) Full USB slot (b) Full SD Card Slot (c) Normal coaxial 12V charger plug instead of some proprietary plug. Check the others. Very few have any of these features. This was a great deal. Thanks 1Saleaday.
