Fish from fast food chains scares me. Strangely, I do not have any aversion to their other questionable-grade foods... #McNuggets4Life

vote-for3vote-against

They have been $1 on Fridays for quite soem time here in the Buffalo, Ny area (I think since last lent at least)

The once populous and curious square fish is now becoming somewhat of a rarity in our oceans thanks to promotions like this....

@shadetreescouser: I'd guess that soon the nugget fish will end up the same way.

vote-for6vote-against

I'm sorry, but the link mentions nothing about a 0.99 fish sandwich

vote-for2vote-against

In cincinnati they are 2 for 3.49

vote-for5vote-against

Oh cool, I always wondered what local.woot looked like!

Hey wait a minute...

vote-for7vote-against

No, there are some select McD's that have the Filet O' Fish for 99 cents. Most don't but still have some Filet O'Fish related special.

vote-for27vote-against

Just got back from McD where they treated me like I'm insane for asking for the 99 cent filet-o-fish, how bout specifying when deals are local and not nationwide...

vote-for8vote-against

Filet-O-Fish are made from Alaskan pollock, which is colloquially known as 'white fish.' It's a relatively cheap fish sold at your local super market as frozen fish fillets, imitation crab meat, and frozen fish sticks. They were from a rather ugly fish from New Zealand for a few years until many suppliers in the area became black listed as using unsustainable fisheries (ie overfishing).

Never take classes on marine biology that discuss parasites.

I just came from 2 different McDees in Raleigh NC, Not true!!! Wish is was cause I luv their Fish sandwiches, Wish they would do a special on the Double Fish sandwiches.

No go in Ft. worth Texas.....regular price......

vote-for2vote-against

The NY metro region lowered the fish price to 2.29 for the sandwich. No dollar deal for the sandwich on Fridays. However, there are coupons for this region for 2 for $3.00 fish sandwiches. The coupons are good until the 31st of March.

whut about orthodox easter? just askin.

Guys, don't outright dismiss the suggestion of @fy360n. I'm pretty sure putting on enough tartar sauce and cheese will make anything taste good.

I really wish they had a "Locations that honor promotion" link or something like Jamba Juice has. Calling the closest 10 McDonalds just takes so long.

vote-for5vote-against

My local McDonalds has them on 'special' at 2 for $3.50 which is quite a bit more then $.99 . Also, why is it that I never get a filet o fish where the fish patty is centered on the bun. All of them that I get are hanging over the edge on one side. Is this on purpose or is my local McDonalds just bad with their presentation?

vote-for2vote-against

This deal does not exist everywhere. In fact, every single McDonalds I've been to (both this year and during last year's lent) have never heard of such a deal going on nor have they ever. I don't understand why people post these kinds of deals without stating the fact that it may only be very select few McDonalds locations that honor it.

Hmm Thanks to the link, I checked out that the breakfast sandwitches have upto 260 g of cholesterol. Even more than the lunch ones. Amazing. Fillet of fish is only 40 g. Big mac is 140 g. Thanks for the nutrition link op.

This is Los Angeles.
Their advertised $.99 special burgers are $1.19 here. Then add tax.
There is NO deal on fish sandwiches.
They do get specials on bulk nuggets- but you have to ask.
And their oil is funny in the evenings. Nuggets and fries kinda taste the same after 9pm.
Oh, and they get chastised if your order takes too long, So now they have designated wait areas. You get behind the other couple cars at the side of the lot, and a happy flunky will deliver your food to your car window.

I've never heard of a McDonalds that didn't offer 99 cent Filet o' Fish sandwiches every Lent. I'm stunned to hear that this isn't a nationwide (or even worldwide) promotion required by their franchiser. How sad! I'm with the OP: I would have posted this if I'd thought if it, because in my experience it is anything but local. Live and learn.

By the way, for those posters hating on McDonalds and accusing them of overfishing and other sustainability problems, take a gander at this and be surprised: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/24/mcdonalds-fish-sustainable_n_2542502.html

McDonalds has been very conscious of this issues and has been certified for eight years now. And they've recently audited the program to ensure that the certifications are still in place. The fish is all wild-caught, and is done so in very sustainable ways. No mercury-rich farm raised stuff. (I was very, very surprised by this. I've always avoided their fish sandwiches because I assumed that they had to be farm raised and therefore high in mercury content. Reading this article made me very happy.)

Reduced to $1.59 on Fridays during Lent here in Santa Barbara, CA. Not as good as 99cents, but I've taken advantage of it the past two Fridays.

As a manager of a McDonalds, I usually like to comment on these deals to clear things up. This particular deal is local to the OP, but there is a nationwide deal on these as stated in other comments. The nationwide deal is 2 for $3.XX which is every day of the week. In my area it's $3.33 but as others have stated, prices are a little different in other regions.
