I'm really tempted to upgrade our ancient GPS which has no traffic and no map updates remaining. I'm also considering a similarly featured and priced Tom Tom on Amazon: http://amzn.com/B003B3P2C4

Anyone have any advice?

It's a good deal for lifetime maps.
Review the Garmin features at the URL below, pick the Tab to the right to review the Specs, This unit does not have Bluetooth. Compare with any of the other Garmin units as listed on the right if you need Bluetooth or other preferred features.

@rsmoker: You're almost better off buying a $20-30 unit (they're all over the place) and replacing them when you want updates...or I would simply opt for a smartphone that has a GPS and can have offline maps loaded onto it.

I used to use GPS units like this, until two of them were stolen from my car on separate occasions. Since then, I use my Android phone and would never go back. It also saves a couple of broken windows.
And no, I didn't simply leave them on my window or dash.

@drez143: They may not see the GPS unit but they do see the adapter or the mount on the windshield which is what clues them that there's likely a unit somewhere.

Sucks...I've been there.

Please Note this is a Refurbished GPS.

The price is lower but your Warranty period is only 90 days.
I buy Refurbished IT all the time, when the price break offsets the lack of warranty. I have not gotten a bad product yet.

Android phone navigation apps are very adequate for GPS use. You really don't need a standalone device any more.

@huachucac I almost bit on this as my wife wants a full size, non-phone GPS. However, I don't see the point in buying refurb for $99 when I can get it on Amazon for $18.00 more new.

@bvbooks: With lifetime updates? This seems like a good deal

@rsmoker: I have a Garmin Nuvi and I love it.

@drez143: Yeah, the phone does the same thing, until you're in the desert crossing country and you loose phone service.
