Tipsy Tow from AAA - Nationwide and No AAA Membership Required for $0
Don't Drive Drunk - Get a Free Ride Home.
As part of our dedication to making the roads as safe as possible for all motorists, AAA is proud to offer its Tipsy Tow program. We offer a free ten-mile tow home for drinking drivers and their vehicles.
The Tipsy Tow program is open to everyone. You do not need to be an AAA Member to take advantage of this service to the community.
During the period Tipsy Tow is available, drivers, potential passengers, party hosts, bartenders, and restaurant managers can call 800-222-4357 (AAA-HELP) for a free tow home of up to ten miles. Just tell the AAA operator, "I need a Tipsy Tow," and a truck will be on its way.
The service will provide a one-way ride for the driver and vehicle to the driver's home. If there are additional passengers who need a ride, they will be taken to the driver's home as long is there is sufficient room for them to be transported safely in the tow truck.
Halloween: 6:00 p.m. 10/31/11 – 6:00 a.m. 11/1/11
so if you're just broke down you can play drunk and get a free tow!!! LOL
@getchena , Yes EXACTLY!!!
@gretchena: just like how if you're drunk and you have AAA you can play broke down and get a free ride home.
But, can I get a free ride to the bar...
Looks like its only good for Nor. California, Nevada, and Utah?
Nice of them to do that, but I hope people outside those areas don't think they're going to depend on AAA to get them home tonight.
@mitchu14: Isn't Utah one of the driest states in the country (if not the driest)? Offering free rides to people who drank too much in Utah sounds like offering free polar bear attack insurance in Florida...
@lparsons42: hey, Florida has Zoos, I would hit that deal up!
@lparsons42: After living in Utah and now living in somewhat Rural Arkansas, Utah is preferable. Utah is just as dry, in the sense that bars are private clubs, but wetter in the sense that there are still liquor stores and you can still buy beer (well, fakey 3.2% stuff...) in the grocery and convenience stores.
I looked up my local AAA office (Florida, in case of polar bears) and the program is offered here too. It appears to be offered nationwide by the various regional AAA clubs. http://www.aaasouth.com/NewsAndSafety/tow_to_go.aspx
Damn I love AAA...
Nice setup all-round. I've seen a lot of drunks rationalize driving home on the basis that if they took the taxi, then they'd have to take one back the next morning to get their car...
Locally we have the Tipsy Taxi, which is one of the senior transit vehicles, offering cheap rides to the local college kids.
Nice, although you might want to ask where the nearest AAA tow truck is - I dropped AAA after finding that the nearest tow truck they'll send is an hour away.
Regardless of the snarky comments here, I LOVE this idea and I'm glad Woot has made people aware of it. Pay attention, boys and girls, this is serious. When people drive drunk, it costs tons of money, and tons of heartache and actual lives are destroyed. Thanks AAA for this amazing service.
@thinkerer: So what! You're drunk. You're at a party. So what if you have to wait an hour for the truck to show up.
Dang, it's over. So much for getting drunk and getting a free tow to work. Well... so much for getting a free tow to work, anyway.
wonder if AAA would give a tow to AA instead of home...
