I've got one of the hammocks pictured here, and it's excellent. I use it for sleeping/relaxing (in a hammock stand) and it has only barely stretched in about a year. I weigh 160 lbs., for reference. I haven't been exposing it to the elements except accidentally, but the few times it's been rained on it's ended up fine. Happy wooting!

Anyone else see the "light gear" and immediately think "I wouldn't be so encumbered with stuff so I could loot more!"

Wootaholics, we meet again! It was a last minute decision to blow our previous Woot sales out of the water and make this promotion 30% off everything in the entire store, it must be all that holiday spirit going around. I know there are lots of you who have ordered hammocks in the past and I hope this gives you a great opportunity to grab our incredible accessories at a huge discount too.

As always if there's anything I can do to help just post here or hit me up in the Live Chat on the site. I'll be hanging around to answer any questions for another half hour or so and then grabbing some sleep for a big day of wooting tomorrow. Trek Lightly wooters!

I just noticed a weird glitch with the shipping rate calculating incorrectly on some orders. I'm working on getting the issue resolved but it may have to wait until the morning. Just know that regardless of what the shipping cost says when you order I will make sure that every order is only billed the correct $8 flat rate shipping.

Ignore my last post - the issue is fixed!

My twin brother has own one of these hammocks for over a year he loves it!! it took me a little longer to get on board of not carrying all that camping gear tent, sleeping pad, hammer *to push in stakes. now just food, sleeping bag tarp and this hammock easily reduced 30pounds on the pack.

by the way both of us are fairly hefty guys over 250pounds!!

anyways I'm in for 1 thanks trek light for an awesome discount!!!!

I have a single and a double hammock that I love taking outdoors (not Trek, but I don't think you can do wrong with these!). I picked up the tarp and bug net, since they seem perfect for really getting into hammock hiking!

Can we purchase the hand? I already have one of the double hammocks and LOVE it. My great danes do too. I would purchase another for my husband (the original was bought for him, but I stole it), but I don't need more things my danes can climb in. Don't ask me how they do it, I don't know.

I have the "double" sized hammock and I absolutely love it. So does MY Great Dane. Perfect for camping / beach / back yard.

Better go ahead and purchase the Rope and Carabiner Bundle because it's exactly what you'll be looking for when you go to set up your rig the first time.

Love this hammock. I brought it on my last trek and it was never empty long - the other guys would jump in the moment I'd get out.

I'm a big guy (6'8" - 230lbs) and I have no issues in the double. It's got enough material so that I don't need any coverage on dry nights, I just wrap the extra material over if it's getting cold. Last trip my pit-mix jumped in when the temp got below 50, and we had a fine night's sleep.

This thing is strong, durable, flexible and just flat awesome. My best luxury gear purchase by far.

just picked up the bug shield. They've been the only problem since I bought the hammock a woot or two ago. Except for the bugs, this hammaock (double) is great.

I own the double hammock and it rocks. It's super light and still tough enough to hold me, a man of considerable carriage, and my lithe better half comfortably. I took the hammock camping this summer and it performed beyond my expectations.

vote-for3vote-against

I haven't used the hammock as much as I'd like, but I've had no problems with it at all. Their site has some really nice articles about how to set it up properly and it really does make a difference in how comfortable it is.

I've used the bags a lot. The deluxe one gets used the most, and I have yet to see a tear, even with a heavy box with a sharp corner. I'm pretty sure with this deal I'll end up getting at least a couple things if not more.

I have two hammocks. I am just under 3bills and love mine. I would recommend ENO hammocks. I have tried others and they don't hold up but my ENO (Eagle Nest Outfitters) is amazing and holds up to 400lbs. ENO is sold on Amazon. Look into it. I also have a bug net and rain fly. ENO is top of the line.

Where do you apply the coupon code on the Trek Light site?

vote-for1vote-against

@lwofle3: The coupon code is entered during the final checkout process (right after choosing your shipping option). If you're paying with PayPal you need to continue through all of the PayPal prompts and then you're brought back to our site to enter the coupon code and finalize the payment.

Ha ha I had read this as 30% off all Star Trek gear... NOT! :(

vote-for3vote-against

I have had one of these for 2 years and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. So easy to clean, have fit up to 500 pounds in one (the double) and it is still in great shape. I take it camping, boating, anywhere and it has been the best purchase. Highly recommend!

I'm in for the double hammock, rope bundle and a repair patch...just in case. Looks sweet!!!

vote-for2vote-against

ordered 2 doubles, rope/biners & patches. Recived an email reply to an order comment right away also.

@mastertotebag & @fatdaddi0: How do your dogs manage to get in them? I am assuming you don't help. Both my danes love the hammock so much that we humans barely get to use it. They do look cute in there though...

vote-for2vote-against

I've owned the Double for about a year now and love it! Works great, my GF and I use it all the time. You can't really hurt the material unless u do something stupid. As for Trek Light, they are a fantastic company. It's worth doing business with them compared to some of the competitors.

@treklightgear: Hi Seth. How long will this discount go on? THANKS!

vote-for2vote-against

The coupon code can be used to get 30% off of gift certificates, and since the gift certificates are digital, you can turn around and use them immediately on another purchase and use the coupon code again. 60% off!!

vote-for3vote-against

@kjlane: Thanks for pointing out a great loophole so I could fix it! The 30% off coupon does not apply to Gift Certificates unfortunately or else they could be abused in exactly the way kljane described.

It's nice to see that no one actually tried to do it before or after the post - Trek Light Gear is a small business and we'd definitely have to put a stop to any attempts to exploit the generous sale we're doing. If you're looking to double-stack coupons and stick it to the man, you've definitely got the wrong man. :)

vote-for2vote-against

@ronnysrv: The sale is scheduled for 24 hours only, which means it will end at midnight CST tonight. But...I'm going to evaluate the inventory levels as we get closer and I may decide to extend it.

If it is extended it will be for an additional 24 hours with the caveat that it could end at any time based on inventory.

I don't get it. I have a hammock (not a Trek), but I can't lie in it for more than about 30 minutes before my knees start to hurt from the pressure caused by the curve of the hammock. The weight of my legs is all on my heels. Lying on my side or stomach is right out (again, because of the curve). I can lie on my back and hang my lower legs over the sides, but that eventually puts them to sleep and gets uncomfortable too.

What am I doing wrong? How can people sleep all night in one?

vote-for2vote-against

@turbinator42: You should definitely read our Sleeping In A Hammock Guide: http://www.treklightgear.com/TrekLife/index.php/2010/03/sleeping-hammock-guide-fear-love/

It's divided into parts and the 3rd part is the one that will help you the most - "The Hammock Angle: How To Relax And Sleep Comfortably In A Hammock" (http://www.treklightgear.com/TrekLife/index.php/2010/10/angle-relax-sleep-comfortably-hammock/)

In a nutshell, sleeping in a hammock boils down to 3 main things:
1.) Having the right hammock (some hammocks are simply not meant to spend any extended amount of time in)
2.) Setting it up properly (having the right amount of curve)
3.) Lying in it correctly (the Hammock Angle)

A quick read of the guide will show you exactly what's causing your problem. People have slept in hammocks comfortably for centuries now and millions of people still do every night. There are even some new sleep studies showing that a hammock may be the absolute -healthiest- way to sleep!

Good news Wooters - we will be continuing this sale into tomorrow! For now it's scheduled to last until tomorrow night (11:59PM December 7th) but it may end early if inventory levels get too low. If you haven't taken advantage of this sale yet you've got a little bit more time but don't wait too long!

vote-for1vote-against

@treklightgear: Thanks for the link to the how-to info - this is exactly what I was looking for. Well-written and informative, it gives me some things to think about.
