This is a bit of a misnomer -- looks like it does much better on nuts than bolts. This is for if the nut's chewed up, you just kinda pound it on and turn it from there. If the bolt head has snapped off, your main choice is the easy-out, which works much better for bolts and screws. It's basically a left-threaded drill bit. You drill a tiny pilot hole into the stripped out screw, then you hand-drill the easy-out in. There's an example of one guy doing it on youtube.

That said, it's far better than sacrificing a slightly-smaller-than-the-right-size socket every time this happens, and it would have been a great help in repairing my car way back when.

@r4v5: Yeah, I would think that it wouldn't work well, or at all on a snapped bolt, unless said bolt was small enough. I have a set of these and it has been a lifesaver on nuts and bolts with rounded off head. This is a handy set to have on hand for those situations though.

Perfect for squirrels.... removing damaged nuts will will be a thing of the past.
