Cobra CXT110 Microtalk 2-Way Radio (2 Pack) for $14.95 + shipping
Admit it. You were thinking up a couple of rad codenames to use with these radios, right?
$2.99 shipping, 16 mile range not bad price
When vacationing or just hiking some local trails, cell phone users should be aware that there probably is no cellphone service inside the woods.
Someone talk to me about GMRS licensing please.
@tsfisch: GMRS channels require FCC license - This two-way radio operates on GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) frequencies, which require an FCC (Federal Communications Commission) license. A user must be licensed prior to operating on Channels 1 through 7 or 15 through 22, which comprise the GMRS channels of this radio. Serious penalties could result for unlicensed use of GMRS channels, in violation of FCC rules. Licensed users will be issued a call sign by the FCC, which should be used for station identification when operating this radio.
Anyone else first think that these were those foam number 1 fingers you get at a game when looking at the thumbnail?
i.e.

If you're new to these radios you should understand you won't ever get the advertised range. Those ranges are under ideal situations (think on top of a mountain overlooking a flat desert). Expect a mile at best. Probably less.
Info on GMRS and its licensing: http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/general-mobile-radio-service-gmrs
"In 2010, the FCC proposed to remove the individual licensing requirement for GMRS and instead license GMRS “by rule” (meaning that an individual license would not be required to operate a GMRS device). This proposal is still pending."
Looks like the FCC finally realizes how silly it is to require a license for GMRS and are looking to remove it for individual private use.
Showing to be out of stock now.
Hello all. The original deal sold out. Please consider these Motorolas as an alternative: http://tinyurl.com/motorolawalkietalkies
Well crap, it sold out. I figured a featured deal would hold until morning. I'm not going to jump on the "alternate" deal which is only a measly $5 off.
Oh well...
Hmmm, it let me order anyway. We'll see what happens...
Today's Tanga Deal is $2 more...
Uniden 22 Channel FRS/GMRS Two Way Radio

Only has 30 day warranty, but "comes with 12 mile range!"
J&R is also offering the Midland XT22 2-pack for $17.99:

We use these kind of radios on our motorcycles.
A lot of cops monitor CB frequencies, and they have a long range.
If I only need to communicate within a few blocks, these are better. After a mile away in city traffic there's nothing.
Also look up FMRS radios.
