Sorry. I should have added that this is in-store. Enjoy!

vote-for1vote-against

been there, done that, got the xbox. Thanks

vote-for2vote-against

LOL I was just getting ready to post this!!! Was wondering if it was just the Roseville Ca store (they have the best clearance prices of all the Target' in Sacramento)

vote-for1vote-against

better buy 5 of these so when the first 4 break, you have a spare. On my 2nd xbox 360, was forced to fix it myself since the warranty expired. Microsoft reminds me of Dell for some reason....

vote-for1vote-against

@killerskillet: same for sony, cept you cant fix it your self you have to drop 250$ to fix it...

vote-for1vote-against

Is this current? I saw this last week but missed out.

vote-for1vote-against

Sort of current- my Target ad shows the core/arcade system but has no mention of the incorrect headset- thos it had theis situation a few weeks back- they were sold out in minutes last time and I was told the SKU is discontinued so not to expect any more in....either he was wrong or this is a huge YMMV

vote-for1vote-against

just went to target and replaced my RRoD xbox with this deal. Going on here in Orlando/Kissimmee.

vote-for2vote-against

no mention of gift card when clicking on the link

vote-for1vote-against

If you look at the weekly ad, it mentions both gift card and the price. If you buy online you get it for $130. In store, you get it for $130 + a $30 gift card.

vote-for1vote-against

@techsteve: READ my first comment, and the rest before saying something like this. In store.

vote-for1vote-against

@epsomax: This is current as of this week's weekly ad. It started today.

vote-for1vote-against

but does this deal come with a naked picture of b.arthur?

vote-for1vote-against

Questions- 1)Are stores still selling the old chipset that red ringed, or are they only selling the newest chipset?

2) I'm not gonna make it to the store myself. Is there a simple way that my mom can tell if it's the new or old chipset?

vote-for1vote-against

@dan1668: You sure about that. I fixed mine and it only cost me $50 which was the price of the part I needed.

vote-for1vote-against

@yellafelon: They're the new chipset. You shouldn't have any red ring problems.

vote-for1vote-against

@kylemittskus: the same deal also happened a couple weeks ago, it was advertised as $150 but when you went into the store there was a sign noting that due to the lack of a headset it had been marked down to 130.

vote-for2vote-against

They should be the new Jasper chip sets but there could be some Falcon sets still out there- there was a reference on another site as to what serial numbers they switched so one could tell from the box- as far as no more RRoD with the new chipsets.... been reported cases of Jasper chip set consoles (the newest) RRoD-ing for a while now and even some reports of the Slim (new console) over heating and shutting down (newer than the Jasper chip set!!) if the system is not in completely open air....

The hardware overheat issue is far from solved, but should be less frequent.

Remember too, if you only do the x-clamp mod on your console to "fix" the RRoD you're not fixing it, you're band-aiding it- correct fix needs to have the board reflowed (with a reflow station not a heat gun, hair dryer, towel, unplugged fans, etc)

vote-for1vote-against

@dan1668: Except the 360s have a substantially larger fail rate (and depending when you bought; three to four times larger) than the PS3s. The newer Xboxs (any made during or after 2009ish) are doing just fine.

vote-for1vote-against

@rroberto: thanks dude, it's been a while since i've tried to fix mine, and didn't know board reflowing is possible.

vote-for1vote-against

@luis6224: IN STORE ONLY = no shipping. $30 GIFT CARD = about $110 out the door after tax. I feel like reading is a pretty basic task.

vote-for1vote-against

Saw the deal, raced to Target to get their only bundle they had in stock. Jackpot :)

vote-for1vote-against

all of the stores near me are sold out now so interested parties might want to go straight to target.com!

vote-for1vote-against

No gift card online, but free shipping. My total shipped online is $140.71 after tax. Good deal.

vote-for1vote-against

@coolascrap: Without the gift card, there are better 360 deals my friend. Do some searching. My deal is only good with the GC.

ALTHOUGH... maybe if you call them, they'll match their ad? Worth a try.

vote-for1vote-against

@killerskillet: news update... xbox 360's break.

vote-for1vote-against

@kylemittskus: most of the "cheaper" 360's are refurbs... to get a brand new xbox for 130 dollars is a deal, no matter how cheap you are. Ive bought refurbs from gamestop, and i ended up going through 3 xboxs in literally 2 months, i took the last one back and bought a new one. Actually a refurb xbox arcade from gamestop is the same price as this.

have fun searching for a "better deal"

vote-for1vote-against

@zolttt: news update...everything breaks. No matter how expensive or cheap, everything breaks. Just take care of your stuff and hope for the best.

vote-for1vote-against

@jcogar23: sarcasm... the fact that people still find the need to spread the news that xbox 360s break, is beyond me.

its like saying "suns gonna rise today"

vote-for1vote-against

@zolttt: hey dude, I posted the deal! I was just making sure others get a better deal if one exists.

vote-for1vote-against

thanks for posting this. just picked one up on my lunch break. with the gift card it comes out to 50 bucks off the regular price

vote-for1vote-against

@kylemittskus: not a problem, i have just been looking for a cheap 2nd xbox for my room for a few months, and have seen those cheaper than this ones... all refurbs... to me its not even worth it to buy a refurbed xbox, when the only xbox i ever traded in was my xbox that i could tell was about to die. i picked one of these up yesterday :) so thanks for posting it

vote-for1vote-against

@zolttt: Glad you cashed in on the deal! I'd have grabbed one, but I'm using my brother-in-law's right now as he has a PS3 and is away at college.

vote-for1vote-against

If you already have a WORKING 360 and it is out of warranty, you can sell it at GameStop with the controller for $100 through July 18th or something like that.

I don't know if GameStop will give you cash back or credit but if they give cash back for selling the console, controller, power brick and AV cable, you can then go to Target and get your new, warranted system for $30! Basically free when you consider the $30 gift card.

Of course this would all hinge on whether GameStop gives cash or credit on your trade in.

vote-for1vote-against

Awesome post, I went down to the local Target last week and my son picked up one for his room! He was totally stoked he could finally afford his own 360!
