HP -usually junk. All in one....bad idea. What if the monitor goes out? Whole pc is useless.

vote-for2vote-against

All-in-ones'....all the downside of a desktop combined with all the deficiencies of a laptop....how can you go right??

vote-for1vote-against

Have had two customers send this junk back, there was more wrong with it than right. Save your money and buy a pony, it's more useful.

I think it's a pretty good idea for my kids, and the form factor is great to put it in a open place in my home without wires everywhere and all the clutter.

@mrarcane:

What were their complaints, your generalization isn't all that helpful for me to make a informed buying decision.

dvd-rw did not work or rattled on both, poor touch maneuvering and it just felt cheap. Right out of the box it was loaded with a ton of HP crapware that caused it's laptop HD to slow to a crawl. CST had it two hours before he called me, the screen was a slimy smeary mess when it worked at all. Go for the pony, at least you can eat it if you don't like it.

Shouldn't it say "Serving suggestion" below the spaghetti? Especially since it has parsley added for a dash of color I feel that this could be misleading otherwise...

vote-for2vote-against

I love mine and it has worked well for games and fun and college homework when my daughter is around...only downside is to turnoff the touchscreen at night so bugs don't buy things

@mrarcane: 1) Sounds like life is being taken a little too seriously 2)Ponies are calling in... they're starting to get offended

This is a great counter top machine. Even if there is a spill the legs deter any damage. The touchscreen is good for working at the counter whether it's cooking, music or movies and the mouse, remote and keyboard work from the table if you are working there. It may not be a great "gaming" machine but I can't play most of the new games anyway and it is a great household computer and will play many games like sims and such

Dear Haters:

I've had one since they first came out, and have had zero problems with it.

In fact, I consider this to be the best $1000 I ever spent as both of my children taught themselves to read on this device plus a few choice apps and web sites.

Continue on with your usual herp derpery though, it's funny.

Can the screen on these things accept alternate input? I.E. XBox 360 via HDMI or something?

vote-for1vote-against

I recently purchased 2 of these systems for our church's check in system. We have had no problems at all using them. The touchscreen is very sensitive but that was my only problem.

@mrarcane: I'd expect the screaming tantrums from an 8-year old daughter to settle down a bit about 48-72 hours after serving up pony steaks. Any idea how long the phase where they just glare at you and mutter "pony killer!" will last?

Ive had this for about a year and LOVE it... Get over yourselves.... This is a great machine...

btw this isn't a real touch screen, though it functions as a touch screen.

in the bezel inside the edge of the display, are IR transceivers, which make a 2D map of where your finger is.

this is also why multi touch is not possible on this device.

Anyone knows if it'll run Mythbuntu?

vote-for1vote-against

I've had one for 3 years and no problems except gnats waking me in the middle of the night playing World of Goo.

Could always use it to make a photobooth with Adobe Air and Sparkbooth. Rent it out for parties, weddings, etc. and soon it will pay for itself. Always assuming it works on arrival, doesn't die before recouping costs or gets stolen, broken or drenched with disgusting fluids at a kegger.

Gross. I don't know anyone who bought this. ANYOOOOOOOOOOOONE!

Currently using the model# 300-1020 (smaller HDD) Has worked flawlessly for over a year and a half. As with everything else you touch, you will transfer whatever is on your fingers to the screen - oil, dirt, microbes, spaghetti sauce, and even the meat balls as demonstrated in the photo. One the other hand as enantiodromia pointed out the sensors are around the perimeter of the screen, allowing for a variety of devices to work the touch screen - finger, stylus, kitty's tail, puppy's nose, giant moths, Mothra, Godzilla, and even King Kong (it seems that after he's death he was placed in cryogenic storage alongside Walt Disney until a later date when he could be cured of his fatal wounds and returned to his home on Skull Island, while Godzilla remains entombed in a box somewhere guarded by chihuahuas).

jessieturner is accurate in his assessment as a "great counter top machine". No need to worry about getting finger prints all over it while cooking as the IR based sensor feature allows you to use a wooden spoon and slop batter all over the screen instead. Alternately you could use the egg turner and leave evidence of this morning's omelet on the screen for the next user.

No it's not a power users gaming machine, but then if you were a power user you wouldn't be on Woot! or any of its many derivatives looking for a machine. Real power users build their own boxes. They wouldn't admit to owning a retail machine for fear of being laughed out of their 2600 meeting. If you don't understand the Ma Bell 2600 reference then you're in the right place, Woot! has all kinds of goodies for you. So, don't be frightened away by anyone on here telling you this isn't a power machine, they're as much as a wannabe as someone try to convince you that they're an astronaut because they know that a wheelbarrow and a space shuttle aren't the same thing (even though they both carry a payload; which is what might have confused us lessor minded individuals).

When windows 8 comes out you haters will be crying that you don't have a touch screen. Touching is fun!!!

@jjmcc2: Cue music from The Rocky Horror Picture Show:
Touch-a touch-a touch-a touch me, I wanna be dirty,
Thrill me chill me fulfil me,
Creature of the night.
