A fair number of Amazon purchasers are unhappy about the pivot/hinge breaking much too soon and too easily.

I have one of these. I only put my iPad in so that it is horizontal, so the pivot issue isn't a problem for me...the sound quality is decent. I find it perfect on my bed side table!

BTW, price is @ $20 cheaper than what I was able to buy it for!!

Seems like a good price. The only problem I have with this deal is the fact that amazons list price is 149 and theirs is 249. Kinda shady...

First hand review:

I purchased one of these.

YES. If you have destructive kids and let them play with this, they will likely break it. You know who you are. Don’t blame the player.

HOWEVER... Setting on the kitchen counter, this is a great way to have music or movies available with relatively good sound.

Pros:
* This price is stupid good, and if you have a first gen iPad it is worth the cost absolutely.
* Remote actually works well.
* Sound quality is better than you would expect.
* Kinda cool. With it holding up the iPad (in either portrait or Landscape) it looks like something you might have seen on Star Trek.

Cons:
* Has no "Alt Out" connection. (too bad)
* Has an "Alt-In", which is unnecessary (like, you would hook up a Zune?)
* Bass Response is fairly limited, but it still sounds better than music on a laptop speaker.

At this price, I would buy another one, if I had a second iPad.
