Uniden 3-Camera Wireless Security System for $159.99 + $5.00, $15.00 Two Day, $22.00 Overnight shipping
This surveillance system has 2.4GHz Digital Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) Technology for secure and interference-free transmissions
It comes with a 7” color display monitor, two weatherproof cameras and one portable, rechargeable camera that transmits up to 500 feet
The system is expandable up to four cameras
All cameras have night vision viewing
It has simple plug ‘n play installation and includes PC software (XP, Vista, Windows 7), and a remote control
The PC software provides connectivity to your PC, offering features such as recording with scheduling, motion detection with alarm and recording
That's almost cheap enough just to buy for fun and set up in your house for a while, just for laughs, and messing with guests. Hang one in the bathroom pointing straight at the toilet.
I bought one of these with a three-camera option a while back. The system is very useful. When things go bump in the night, you can grab the monitor and see what the deal is. The night vision is adequate, and the sound is surprisingly clear (if you're not not making a studio recording. You're just eavesdropping on the robbers' plans).
One big draw back: don't count on the recording software for much. It can only record one camera at a time, and it cannot record sound. Frankly, it's borderline useless. The real value is being able to see what's going on outside or inside your house with a push of a button. That's worth $160 all day.
Nice system that works well with surprisingly good picture quality and color resolution. Big plus: Does not jack with your wireless network like some other, "value" systems currently available.
I have it. Bought an extra indoor cam too. Side note: The outdoor cams need constant power. The indoor ones have a built in rechargeable battery. Didn't realise that until I unplugged one and the little light was still on.
Has anyone used the remote viewing option that is mentioned at: http://www.helpowl.com/q/Uniden/UDW20055/Technical-Support/udw20055-viewing-internet/108041
It looks like there is an app for smartphones - does it work reasonably well? Does it use an SSL or https site for security?
Thanks!
