Interesting, was not aware that Toshiba apparently owns OCZ.

OCZ filed for bankruptcy in December 2013

@christophar1: that would explain why Toshiba now owns them. The OCZ Wikipedia entry is a long chain of them acquiring several firms, perhaps leading to the bag of worms in which they found themselves.

This drive is in their current lineup, not an EOL product. Only 8 reviews, and one of the 1-egg reviews is from somebody panning OCZ as a company and the reliability of previous products, not the drive itself. I wonder if this model was designed by Toshiba engineers? I have two older OCZ drives with no problems (a 120GB vertex, and the rare SATA/USB 60GB drive). YMMV.

I have a vertex 4, i love it. I would recommend any drive from them.

Note: I work for a competitor to OCZ. However, to answer the question on whether this is a Toshiba designed drive, the Vertex came out before the Toshiba acquisition, and I believe is the first drive primarily designed after the Indilinx acquisition by OCZ, so is Indilinx based, versus Sandforce from previous drive models

@xygon: Thanks for the transparency about your association - refreshing!

The vertex 450 was the first drive primarily designed after the Indilinx acquisition by OCZ, while the vertex 460 is the same drive but after the Toshiba acquisition with Toshiba NAND swapped in.

The Vector is a step up from the vertex 450, and the Vector 150 is the same as the Vector but with Toshiba NAND.

If I were to recommend an SSD, I would recommend one of the following depending on your use case:

Intel 730 ( Not for use in laptops, has capacitors to protect data on power failure )
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IF4NGEU?tag=j1105-20

Crucial M550 ( best option for BitLocker encryption, has capacitors to protect data on power failure )
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IRRDHUI?tag=j1105-20

Samsung 840 Pro ( the EVO is a step down )
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NB8WRU?tag=j1105-20

Vector 150 ( the vertex 460 is a step down )

@jgstew: Thanks for the info. Where money is not an issue, perhaps – but the prices from your links: (all at least 60% more expensive than this deal)

Intel 730 - $210
Crucial M550 - $164
Samsung 840 Pro - $197
Vector 150 - $160

BTW, thanks @Mods for fixing the picture! (@faughtey or ?)

@bluemaple: You're welcome! You can always tattle to have it fixed, or do a @faughtey request.
If I'm working it can be taken care of right away.

@faughtey: That's exactly what I did (tattled with a link to the correct photo since the Deals.Woot post-a-deal logic couldn't find it) right after posting the deal. Probably due to your previous advice!
