Good drive. Super fast. Once you go USB 3 you never go back.

I've had this drive for several months. It was $120 when I got it but it looks like it will be a while before the prices come back down from the "shortage". Good deal relatively speaking. It was around $200 when I checked around Christmas time.

@syninthecity: Sadly, if your going to avoid a drive because of failure you won't buy any HDD's. Quality control in the last couple of years has gone in the toilet! I've had more HDD's fail in the last 2 years (from WD, Seagate, and Hitachi) then I have had in the previous 15 yrs.

@bigcheeze: Which is why I buy two (one main and one backup) and have on-line backup as well.

HDD usually have failure because of a corrupt directory. Luckily I have a program that rebuilds the directory and saves all my stuff.

@bigcheeze: +++++++++++++

Ever since they hit the 1GB+ level reliability is just gone. It's sad. Seagate once a solid brand is just complete and utter garbage. I can only assume they've really cheaped out on some essentials parts for the past few years OR the technology which enable 1GB+ is just too immature. Either way reliability imho just isnt what it used to be.

Btw why are 1GB drives back down to $60 again? Why do I have the feeling that we will never see pre-flood drive prices again. I really should have stocked up when they were so cheap. Oh well.

@mesostinky: I think you mean 1TB - not 1GB.
