I'm in for one. I've been recommended cree in the past. The rechargeable battery makes it even more appealing.

@wyccad915: This particular flashlight is a good one. I own three of them and they have performed well. Just remember that CREE refers only to the LED installed in the flashlight and not the whole unit. You will see many flashlights advertised with the CREE name that have the LED, but otherwise are made of shoddy materials. Beware when the deal seems too good.

vote-for6vote-against

Once you've used a Cree LED flashlight you'll NEVER use another flashlight type again! Incredibly bright when used with an L Ion battery.
The 4 that I've bought and are still working 2 years later and were gotten off eBay...they were US eBay sold and shipped, but Chinese-made. I believe that the form factor and materials of most of these flashlights are from the same factories in China, but when you buy them in a US sporting goods or other retail store you're just paying for a US-branded logo stamped on the case and the retail clamshell it's packaged in. I may be wrong, but I haven't noticed any quality-control differences.

Back to $12.99 today. Drat.

vote-for2vote-against

@emccoyii: No, the deal is still available. You have to use the coupon code (XS-30) listed in the description.

vote-for3vote-against

Yes, but use the coupon XS-30 and it removes the shipping and takes off $4

vote-for1vote-against

I just bought several of these flashlights, and the XS-30 coupon took $4 off each one, bringing the total down to $8.99 each with free shipping and no tax in Calif.

vote-for1vote-against

Thanks for the coupon tip. I missed it entirely and almost skipped the deal. In for two.

click on it and they want $12.99 ... not much but it's the 3rd inaccurate listing I've seen in 2 days ... come on Woot!!

vote-for4vote-against

Just ordered 2 @ the $8.99/ea price with no tax and free shipping to CA.
:)

@wjs7453: Why are you blaming WOOT because you clicked on a deal from yesterday and found it no longer valid? If you paid attention you would find that most of these deals are for one day only, AND you had to use the correct discount code....It worked fine for me....YESTERDAY...

Update:...I just went back and ordered another one. That means that the deal is still good if you are smart enough to follow instructions.....

vote-for3vote-against

@wjs7453: The deal is still good. You're probably not entering the code for the savings.

And as noted, a lot of these things are deal-a-day so if it's always possible you'll miss it.

Deal worked for me. COUPON CODE XS-30

vote-for0vote-against

I just scored 3 of them for $8.99 each free shipping and no tax to cali. XS-30 coupon code works fine.

I bought one of these from Gearxs about a month ago for $7.99 with free shipping. They told me it was on backorder. But right after I bought mine, they raised the price to $12.99 and continued to sell it. It took about a month and a couple of emails to finally get the flashlight, but it was worth the wait. It is really bright; on ebay they described it as 120 lumens. . Excellent flashlight for this price

Deal is dead now.

Subtotal: $18.99
Coupon(XS-30): $-5.85
Order Total: $13.14

vote-for1vote-against

Ordered mine yesterday, the code XS-30 did not apply the discount until the very last. I was willing to pay 12 dollars but ended up getting it for 8.99. I have other single AA Cree flashlights that outshine my old 4 D cell magnums. Great deal at this price. Thanks for posting it!

13deals has this light with regularity. If you missed this one, keep an eye over there. About every three or four weeks they'll offer a similar deal.

How many lumens are in a megabyte?

vote-for0vote-against

@pleepleus: Lumens are a measure of light intensity. Megabytes are a measure of memory capacity. Therefore, there are no meaningful conversions between them. It is the same as saying, "How many pounds are in a mile?"

You can also get very similar flashlights and kits (batteries/chargers) that are competitively-priced on eBay. I personally avoid dealing with chinese eBay sellers, so I limit my search to US sellers only. You'll then notice a few high-volume sellers that deal in CREE flashlights of all designs. I've purchased all of my flashlights from these vendors and have been very happy with each purchase, and since they're US sellers, they ship very quickly.

@kerig: Yes, what you say is quite true. The one thing you forgot top say is that the "US Vendors" charge egregious prices for these things. Let's face it. It is hard to mess up an aluminum tube. All the ones I have gotten from either have been very sturdy and about equal. The all have similar setups and the switches on the "US" ones look VERY similar to the Chinese. (You could not pick it out side by side.)

Bottom line: These are all of about equal (high) quality, including the US ones and Chinese. Some of the ones like STARFIRE charge hundreds for a light similar to ones selling for $20-$30 here.. You notice I put "US Vendors" in quotes? I took apart an expensive STARFIRE to replace the switch, and WHOA.....inside the tube was printed "China"...I knew all the CREE LED's came from China, ....I wondered why the switches looked the same....

Don't waste your money. These are as good as the "US" ones...In fact, that STARFIRE I repaired was the only one I ever had that needed repair.

@tradergeorge: So does that mean it won't support 4G LTE via HDMI?
