Just so you know...cast iron pots are wonderful IF they have enamel coating, IMHO. Otherwise, they're a b*tch to clean. Just sayin'.
If they are seasoned then they are the easiest thing in the world to clean. My Cast Iron is more non-stick than my All-Clad non-stick
They do take a little effort to season. And these are already seasoned so the hard part is done by Lodge; one of the better cast iron companies.
But if your cleaning them that much you are doing something wrong.
This is worth every penny.
They were charging more for this at the swapmeet! This is a good deal.
Clean them right after you're done cooking and they're still warm. Dump a little oil and coarse salt in and scrub up any stuck-on bits. Wipe clean. Done.
If you use soap on them, you've screwed the pooch. It isn't necessary to get it clean - good advice above.
I've heard you're not supposed to use cast iron cookware on glass top stoves. Is there any way to make this useable on a glass top stove?
@tjzeke1703: They are ill advised on glass top since they are heavy and can crack it. So no.
However I received a set of cast iron cookware for camping as a gift. And after reading up on it ans properly seasoning it these are my favorite pans to cook with. Nothing sticks and they have a consistent temp on my cheap apartment's electric stove.
Just remember NO SOAP, salt and oil. Water if you absolutely must, then dry by placing on a hot stove top.
