Yes its a little big for recta scope but a super cheap price. I am pretty impressed.
In the specs it says the RR-600 operates only down to -1C. I hope that's a misprint because in certain parts of the country you're lucky if it's -10C when you're hunting.
I have a SOPS from the last time it was on Woot. Excellent reflex sight, very high quality construction, made in Japan, and the auto brightness seems to work quite well. About as good as an Aimpoint, if you can live without the insane battery life. Only caveat is that you'll need 1/2" risers to get it to AR-15 co-witness height. IT IS NOT "CHEAP CHINESE CRAP".
$299 2 months ago and $379 a month before that. Good thing I bought the straight 10X and not this variable one. Other than that PFI makes some great glass.
@prime suspect: Not with enough KY. Pretty sure it was the same size as the last one they used for my colonoscopy
Also note that the scope is calibrated for high BDC bullets. If you were expecting to use "normal" 5.56 ammunition (M193), it's probably not what you're looking for. If you use the heavy/long stuff (77gr), it should work alright.

For those of us that don't understand optics or for some discussion, optically or in use/firing/mounting, what's the difference between the RR-600-2 (3-9x32mm) offered here and the RR-600-1 (3-9x42mm)?

@mrln: 32mm v 42mm. That number is the objective lens size. The larger your front lens is the more light you're letting in. The more light you've got means you can shoot later or earlier (twilight) or under cloudy conditions where contrast is diminished. So, bigger is sometimes better but if your objective lens is very large you have to compensate at your mount site and this can sometimes make for an uncomfortable shooting position as well as adding weight to your kit.
@erwos: The description says it works with a variety of ammunition, I suppose within a specified range. Thanks for your insight! I was ready to grab one until I saw your comment. Can you explain a little more? I've just started shooting with cheap 55gr out of my 16 inch AR. How well would this scope work just for having fun out to 300 yards or so? I'm currently adjusting my iron sights up and down a few clicks when I swap out the bolt group for a 22 conversion kit out to 100 yards, so I don't mind making adjustments as long as they are predictable and repeatable.
@gundamcollector88: Can you please explain why you're glad you bought the fixed power model? I'm new to rifle shooting and need a little help.
@robertey: Longer/heavier bullets have different flight characteristics than shorter/lighter bullets. The drop compensation features of the reticle will not work quite right with those lighter bullets. 77gr 5.56x45 is on the lower edge of what the scope will work for.
@erwos: Ah, well then no good for me. I have used bullets in the 70 grain range for shooting pests with minor adjustments to my iron sights, but I can't see me getting something that won't work with the commonly available 55gr. Thank you for sorting me out.
@robertey: You absolutely would be better off with a scope calibrated for M855 or M193.
RR-600-2 is an excellent deal. In for two.

@robertey: For what I intended for I didn't need the variable zoom so I went with the single. Also if I bought the r-600 then I would have paid ~110$ more than what it is going for now.
Has anyone had one of these ship yet? I'm surprised it's taking this long for them to get it out the door.
