This has been going on since the beginning of July and amazon does it every month. There will be a different set of $5 digital albums on Aug 1st, so if you don't see anything now, check back tomorrow.

@joscott87: Yeah, I'm honestly kind of confused why this got so much positive attention. Amazon has been running this promotion for at least a year, and there have been months where they put 500 or 1000 albums on sale instead.

Meh, the only thing worthwhile is one by Sonic Youth and on from the Aquabats, both of which I already have.

Helplessness Blues, Waking Up, Only By The Night, Trouble, Funeral, Hail To The Thief, Little Hell, and Loverboy are all so worth 5 bones.

Too bad I already have them all.

And the notation "100/$5" means "100 downloads per $5" which is not true, it's only "1 download per $5 for these few albums."

@bitman: well saying 100/$5 doesn't make sense in the first place because 100 is not specified so it is just a number. 100/$5 means absolutely nothing because you cannot balance it into one type of unit. That's like saying 100/(5mg) it just doesn't make sense.

If you buy anything from amazon MP3 DL make sure you back it up somewhere. If you lose it you can't reDL it without paying again!

@plasticpopcorn4: Albums you buy from Amazon are saved the the amazon cloud drive thing now. So you can re-download whenever you want, wherever you want. I put a couple albums on my phone using the android app.

Also any albums you buy from amazon aren't counted towards the 5 gig cloud drive limit. This and the lack of DRM is what keeps me coming back to the $5 sale.

@plasticpopcorn4: Not true .... There is a link to "digital downloads" under you account. It's not easy to get to, but it is there. Also now with amazon's cloud feature any purchase from amazon is backed up to and accessible from your "cloud." I've used this feature to move new purchases to my pc, iPod and android smart phone.

Amazon mp3 services are the best, and coats considerably less than iTunes.

@plasticpopcorn4: The two previous replies are correct, but I just want say I know where you're coming from. Before Amazon put their cloud in place you were on your own. I lost an album in a similar way after my phone went berserk. Receipt in hand, I went right to p2p, eff re-buying.

@echoota: Actually you've been able to re-download well before they started their cloud drive. I had to re-download all my purchases a couple years ago after a hard drive crash. klacour has it correct; It was kind of hidden but the link has always been under the digital downloads section of "your account."
