2 x 2009 Biscardo Valpolicella Classico Ripasso
"Classico" signifies that this wine comes from the central, most historic and arguably best part of the Valpolicella appellation. A Valpolicella Superiore must have an alcohol level of at least 12.5 percent and spend 14 months aging.
The 2009 Biscardo Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore conveys a seductive nose of chocolate-covered cherries, vanillin, violets and a dash of nutmeg from French oak aging. As is to be expected from a Superiore Ripasso, this wine is smooth and fleshy in body, with medium acidity and soft tannins. A bit of cocoa adds a welcome layer to the finish. Drink this wine now or in the next four to six years. Pair it with mild soft cheeses, seasoned, roasted chicken or ham.
