What's the gift card for? Is it a Newegg card or a generic debit card that can be used anywhere for anything?

The deal on this item is that most reputable sites (including amazon, abes, etc. are selling this for 429.00 also. But the $100 Newegg gift card is what makes this a very good deal. I would be surprised if anyone could not find products to purchase at Newegg (a site which also has great prices) with the gift card. Not to mention it is has some great reviews for the product. You really can't argue with Yamaha receivers. (I also love onkyo).

If you spend the extra $70 and get the RX-V665, it comes with a $150 New Egg gift card, instead of the $100 one. If you buy enough from them as I do, over time this is pretty much like only spending an extra $20 for the better receiver.

For this $20 you get:
1. Multi-zone (a huge bonus)
2. 7.2 upgrade from 7.1, so you can add another sub to your system
3. Satellite radio ready

Not to mention either way you go, you are getting a very good deal. Try to find another 7.x system with the features and sound quality these offer for the same cash, you probably won't be able to. You can always get better, but it is going to cost a bunch more money. For sure the best bang for your buck in its price range.

@manfromia: Yes, the V665 is a much better deal - most importantly it has pre-outs for every channel, so you can add your own power amplifiers.

I still think buying used is much better though; you can get much better quality for the price.
