Philips Portable 7" iPod docking system DCP746/37B for $35.99
Ok - I don't have the full range of details here on these but I think I'm ordering two of these as well as soon as this gets set up. The price seems ridiculously low for me to be able to stick my old iphones in and have them charging while my boys watch movies on long car rides. I'm assuming maybe the UI or something sucks? I guess worse case you start playing and then connect.
(I asked for techs to test this thing on the iphone as Philips wasn't allowed to officially show them as compatible..)
hmm.. no stats module for me to get to enjoy being first sucker. maybe it's delayed.
so now that my order is in, any opinions on these? what's the downside?
(yeah, I know I'm totally biased as the CEO selling this stuff but let me have my fun)
In for one - Couldn't pass it up at this price. I'll be going to nights at work soon and I've got a car trip coming up. Can you say lots of time for watching TV shows and movies from my iPhone? I wonder if my iPhone 4 will unofficially work once I get it..
@limehaven:
Hmmm...
You better check somebody's review on Amazon.

A member just said this dock's quality is horrific...
I never understood the need for these, but at this price it makes it a little bit more temping. This is the first time I've heard of Katie Melua and I liked the YouTube song up until the pan flute kicked in.
I got two of these in January from Woot for $60 each, so the price is great here. I've used the crap out of them, too: traveling, at school for individual video assignments, in a guest room with a basket of DVDs, to watch while I'm "working" on grades/lesson plans...
I don't have an iPod, but the little pop-out cubby is the perfect size to store the remote so it won't go off to Remotewonderland like most of the others seem to do. Wish I had my summer paychecks and I'd pick up more for gifts.
@thinkerk: ah boy, I didn't realize we sold these before. I haven't found the old thread - if someone does it'd be worth linking to for perspective at $60.
Is this a DVD player as well as an ipod dock?
@stimes1976: I didn't believe so at all - I was confused by that earlier post. I figured maybe it has video in and they have a separate dvd player by it, or they are thinking about an entirely different Philips product. I'll try to check on out over lunch - mine haven't arrived yet and I didn't look at this in sample room.
@snapster: It's just an iPod player. No DVD or Memory Card slots...
@kevinatwoot: did we sell it before under some different name or were they remembering something else.
@snapster: We sold a different model (DCP851) on January 21st
http://www.woot.com/blog/viewentry.aspx?id=11075
That one had a DVD player and an SD card slot.
@snapster & @kevinatwoot: thanks for clearing that up
moofi!
So, do you think it's illegal to mount this on your steering wheel and watch movies? ;)
Since I'm the only one in my car, this product is so not useful for me. Except maybe, if I decide to live in my car.... mmmmmm... possibilities.
I picked up the 59.99 one in January and haven't used the memory card part yet. I love mine but wish the battery would last longer. i paused the movie and forgot about it - when i tried it again later - and no more charge left.
i'm totally wanting this one or three. my ipod nano worked fine on it. i hope it comes with the car and house plugs like the other model.
@ger16: It should - Click the image on the site and it pops out with an image of a car plug and home plug with it.
It also lists them in the accessories list:
AC/DC Adaptor: (100-240v, 50/60Hz)
Car kit: Cigarette outlet adaptor, Rear seat mounting kit
