Doctor Who Daleks Ceramic Salt And Pepper Shakers for $19.99
These are pretty cool, but they could have been done so much better.. Still, I'd like to encourage this train of thought.
How about salt and pepper shakers that are shaped like daleks?
@theoneill555: that's exactly what i was looking for, and what I meant by 'these could be done better' - unfortunately these are the only ones i could find.
I've seen dalek shaped salt and pepper shakers on ebay, but they're really horrible quality.
o doctor, the nerdiness!!
o i can imagine a david tennant ketchup bottle and jack harkness mustard
SAL-IN-ATE! SAL-IN-ATE! SAL-IN-ATE!
I thought I saw some really good Dalek salt and pepper shakers on ebay, last month. I think they were made of pewter, even, but they were super expensive (like more than $100).
Just found them and they're totally freaking awesome, but the bidding also starts at $139 (buy it now - $179). http://cgi.ebay.com/Pewter-DALEK-salt-and-pepper-shakers-DR-RARE-/290464672505?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0
Here's some more that are also pewter and also $179, but they're not as nice as the ones up for auction on ebay.
@dazoneranger: See? This is what I was talking about!
jack harkness as hot sauce and david tennant as relish.
@robinbobcat: I have a feeling my wife would kill me if I got these, as there's no way I could resist the urge to say that every single time I seasoned my food.
damn those pewter ones are awesome.
whens the next season start
I swear I remember seeing a pair somewhere, one was the gold color, one was the black. I can't find them now though.
@robinbobcat: Came here to say this. I see it's taken care of. Carry on.
@robinbobcat: Nice! +1 to rep.
@dazoneranger: Great find. Those are hella cool, but I think the wife would have my guts if I bid/purchased those.
@joedeth: She doesn't have to know how much they cost and she'd never suspect salt and pepper shakers would ever cost that much, either.
I finally decided to make my own Dalek salt and pepper shakers for my wife. I bought a 3 pack of cast metal Daleks from Corgi and did a few alterations. I bought the grey/white/red set. First, remove the roller base-plates. Second, drill 5 holes in the middle space in the Dalek's neck ring with a 5/64 bit. Don't drill the front three sections, just the other 5. I used a Dremmel tool with a small grinding stone to clean up the holes inside the Dalek. Wash it well. Hold your finger around the neck to block the salt and fill the Dalek. Use a piece of Ziplock bag as a gasket between the Dalek and baseplate. Replace the baseplate and screw and trim the excess bag off with an X-acto knife. The Dalek works perfectly and the salt/pepper stays in pace until needed. I put seasoned salt in the red one. All three are guarding my dining room table as we speak. Total cost was about $45 US.
