Seems to be quite a good deal for a low-level extra computer, or maybe one for the less-computer-literate-relative who needs an email device?

To my area:
Shipping and Handling: $18.92

So there's no way to tell if you're order is one of the first 50? Lame.

vote-for4vote-against

refurbished, abused garbage. do not buy.

vote-for1vote-against

@camleish: Off lease Systems (Grade A), look like Brand new.

vote-for3vote-against

@gearxs: I've always wondered in a situation like this: who comes up with those "grades"? Is it Dell, or just the company selling the refurb?

vote-for1vote-against

@deftoned989: our vendors inspecting the systems, but we also checking and imaging the systems, to be sure the motherboard/CPU/fans in excellent condition. we also provide 90 days warranty + 100% satisfaction guaranteed or we will refund you 100% back! you welcome to take a look at resellerrating reviews: https://seals.resellerratings.com/landing.php?seller=5218

Thanks

@gearxs - how do yo determine if you were a monitor "winner"? Even after I placed the order I received nothing saying yea or nay. Just curious.

vote-for1vote-against

@bvbooks: the first 50 orders will win FREE LCD 17" or 19" Monitor, first come first serve.

vote-for1vote-against

btw if you looking for low end system for your kids, grandma or cheap system for your office we also go the GX520 on sale on woot:

vote-for1vote-against

Have you had 50 orders yet?

vote-for2vote-against

I doesnt tell you if you are the first 50 or not. I ordered one and it never said anything.

vote-for2vote-against

its a business trick...no one will get a monitor you have to buy them. They say that the first 50 will get one but who will know if they are the first 50? Be careful guys...they arent well known!

vote-for1vote-against

All I have to say is you get what you pay for. This is something you get the dog or kid.

vote-for9vote-against

People, IT's Gearsx. They are despicable. Don't order from them. You'll be sorry. Gearsx and IKOR are the same company, evil evil evil. Check the web for complaints. Go to the web site check out the return policy. Its longer than the Declaration of Independence. Stay away

Come on fellow wooters list your bad experiences add a comment. Help the unknowing. Lets all try to get Gearsx and IKOR off of woot.

This is only one story. It's not mine but similar. There's a ton of these just look.http://www.ripoffreport.com/computer-manufactures/gearxs-com/gearxs-com-gearxs-ikor-design-a4da8.htm

>>> Its longer than the Declaration of Independence. Stay away

Actually, the Declaration is very short; just a few pages. If you were to say its longer
than the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACP) that the Senate passed late on Christmas eve, then I'd REALLY go nowhere's near this deal. The PPACP is 2700 pages (probably ten's of thousands of pages, once you include all the other documents it references or creates).

If these GX740s are anything like the GX745s, then they're trash and should be avoided.

Why can't gearxs just be blacklisted as a scam?

vote-for0vote-against

@novat: Why should we protest, it is the same 5 that write that GearXS is a scam. If there was 5 or more DIFFERNT people saying that then i might say ok. but it is only you babies that keep crying. Look at all the negative reviews of newegg. they have many bad complainents. but yet they are the number one to go to.

Also with the millions of wooters coming here, and maybe .5% buying stuff, hell lets say .01% and only getting the same 5 people complaing, then i feel you are fighting more of a personal issue. Your only 4 comments are at gear/ikor: http://deals.woot.com/deals/users/novat/commented

@ffrj5647: Not really a business trick, more like a way to bring the customer in. think of it this way, if any company did this and said that the first 50 were done, would you buy it? Also, if a company gets 200 orders an hour, what is to say that in the first 2 hours, more than 50 were sold?

vote-for2vote-against

It should be noted that the "refund" is actually a store credit.

I have had a bad experience with these guys in the past. The only way to use your store credit is to make a phone order.

I purchased a laser from them that worked for a few hours then died. The return process was easy enough, but I would rather have my money back to spend elsewhere.

vote-for2vote-against

@1337master: I can't speak for all of the people who rip on gearxs, but I protest because the workstation models they sell are notorious for quality control issues. Working as an IT professional in an environment with over 4000 workstations, we experience issues from these models on a frequent basis. I also take issue with a claim stated by gearxs in a previous deal stating that they "only have problems with one in 400" of their workstations (referring to the GX745) when we've been replacing them all early because they've all been failing. Take that and apply it to the previous models they've sold with quality control issues (GX620s and GX270s), and you should have a better understanding of my contempt.

Don't take it from the salesmen or the small handful of customers who have a good experience with a single workstation, take it from the MULTIPLE IT people who post here about multiple failed workstations; I'm pretty sure we have a better grasp of the situation than they do.

@butteredtoast: That is so true. Wasn't dell in a lawsuit for that same reason? I think it had to do with compositors. Damm china getting cheaper. What happened to the good days with quality over quantity?

vote-for1vote-against

@1337master: It actually IS a business trick/gimmick, because the customer (in this case) has no way of knowing whether or not they will receive a monitor. A reputable company would have a way for a potential customer to determine whether or not they'll receive a monitor with their order.

vote-for2vote-against

GEARXS.com is such a scam. Stay away from this place at all costs.

I'm currently working on getting my order cancelled before paypal closes the window for refunds.

vote-for2vote-against

@butteredtoast: SO TRUE! I work in IT for a school district. We have about 500 of these GX740's, and they are CRAP!!! The NIC's intermittently just fail, and the chipset is non-standard so these do not work with FOG and many other PXE based imaging solutions... Also, the same thermal issues that plague the 620, and 745 are present here. Faulty thermo sensors will cause your system to cyclical reboot, or your fan to spin so loud that it sounds like an airplane.

vote-for0vote-against

@deftoned989: Companies do it all the time and they never let people know if they are the first 50, or 100, or 1,000. Newegg, bestbuy, target, etc do it a lot. Just assume, after X amount of time, they should have sold more than 50 units. If a person is asking 10 hours after the sale started then my guess is that you wont get the free item. People want things cheap or free. So by wat your saying is that all companies that do this, and have a great standing with the internet, are now all not reputable? Am I getting that correctly?

vote-for2vote-against

@1337master: it wasn't the compositors, it was the flux capacitors and the di-lithium crystals ;^)

vote-for1vote-against

I have owned one of these monitors for approximately two years - I've been using it for about one year with my Mac Mini. I'm personally very happy with it; it does a spectacular job for my needs. (I don't do graphic design, but I do music sequencing and mixing, where large space is nice to have.) The colors and the display are crisp enough for my needs.

People complain about the speakers; I personally have found them to be surprisingly loud for what they are, but perhaps that's because I'm running them from the headphone jack in my Mac Mini (the default sound config for these machines). They won't sound better than a pair of actual speakers, but they are definitely very serviceable.

Overall - I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, and I'm trying to fight the urge to pick up another one just for the hell of it.

vote-for2vote-against

It's a $140 dollar used computer. What exactly is everyone expecting?

vote-for1vote-against

avoid this company like the plague.
avoid "leetmaster"'s comments like the plague. He's a two-bit schill/fanboy for gearxs.
