Though I hear this is a good movie, earlier Affleck movies still prevent me from watching anything he's in.

Ben's previous movies did not won an Oscar...

You should find out why. Just sayin'.

sp. "win" Good Will Hunting won as well. You should watch that too. K, I'm done.

@wootjjk: I am the same way, not an Afleck fan, but I decided to watch this since it was a CIA flick. It was very good and suspenseful. Worth a watch.

@wootjjk: Affleck was not in his typical character for this movie. I think he did a great job playing his part, but the movie fell flat for me. To each their own. Certainly worth seeing.

Argo (Blu-ray/+ all those other bells and whistles) - possible title change i came up with just for fun.

Affleck as an actor is one thing, but as a director he has a pretty good track record. Gone Baby Gone was a great debut. The Town was a great film and his acting didn't hold the film back, at least not too much, IMO. I haven't yet seen Argo, but he's clearly improved since his Armageddon days.

@wootjjk: I understand your logic,I saw DeNiro in Meet The Fockers so why see any other movie he's in ?

Just knowing that Iran wants to sue the makers of this film for their "unrealistic portrayal" makes me want to see it.

Are you people serious?!!! Awesome in "Mallrats"...AWESOME in "DOGMA"...AWESOME in "CHASING AMY"...AWESOME in "Good Will Hunting"...So he had some not great flicks...dude is super cool...THE TOWN?!!! Great movie! I'm not even hating on his super hero film...Say what you will about a couple of bum films, but the dude is cooler than most out there today. "Argo" proves that he's still relevant, and still someone who you'd like to have a beer with and talk trash with....quit the Affleck hating when there are plenty of terrible douches out there getting your movie dollars...just saying. HE WAS THE BOMB IN PHANTOMS YO!

He is one of the most derivative directors ever. Terrible. Why do people think he's a good director? I don't get it.

The movie takes quite a few liberties with the truth, so it's certainly "based" on real events and not a complete factual representation, but for tension, it's got it in spades. Even knowing how it goes, I was still enthralled the entire time.

@samjung23: I totally agree. When I saw this movie in the theatre, i left with a "meh" type feeling. The suspense felt forced, Ben Affleck's character was one dimensional and at times funny he was so dry, the writing was sub par, I had a very hard time believe the movie took place in the 70's (you can't just drive around in an old mustang and play Zepplin or Rolling Stones in the background to convince the audience your in the 70's), and the final scene when the plane is racing down the runway is a total farce (Why didn't the military just call the cockpit to stop the plane?). This movie is an example of "Who you know" in Hollywood. Clooney and Affleck are on someones good side. I feel bad for movies like The Master, which I particularly thought was awesome.

@cac53: Whatever point you were making was completely forgotten the moment I saw that you were spoiling the very movie that is up for consideration. I barely caught myself in time to not finish reading what you typed.

Down voted.

@west3man: You're kinda right. I got so worked up, didn't realize I was writing a Spoiler Alert.

I liked Goodwill Hunting and School Ties but we all know Matt Damon (and Brendan Fraiser for ST) was the reason why they were such a huge success (Affleck was just a supporting actor). So jump in logic to assume GWH = a Supporting Actor is great in another movie as a Lead Actor.

In movies where Affleck was the Lead Actor: Armageddon, Daredevil, Gigli, Paycheck, and Pearl Harbor. He has also gotten 3 nominations for Razzies for worst actor (De Niro has none) and one for worst couple (Gigli) - so De Niro in a bad movie logic doesn't work either.

I don't hope any ill will hunting (that's a joke) towards him or his family just I've seen too many movies that were duds and his acting was part of it. I'll shut up now as people love their Hollywood.
