I have never tried this machine, but I have made ice cream from bananas. And it does NOT compare to soft serve texture wise. It looks like ice cream but has a slightly...gelatinous (?) texture. I would suggest trying some (you can easily make it in a food processor) first.

That being said, I can't stand bananas... so maybe I'm just a little biased.
