For those who don't want to wait for it to show up on the WootOff!

@debbiedunlap: I haven't seen a leakfrog make an appearance in a Wootoff since '67, here's to hoping they make a return!!

OMG, the memories are flooding back, like a hot water heater bursting in the middle of the night and triggering an automated water leak alarm. And during a Woot-Off, no less!

@debbiedunlap: Or the river flooding the banks and this being the warning that it has breached the laundry room!

Jeremiah was a leak frog ...

I'm guessing this is something that when water touches it, it makes noise to let you know that there's a leak. Or your house is underwater.

You throw it in the basement, and while you are on a two week vacation in Cabo when the pipes burst, and flood your basement it squeals an alarm to let you know that your house is flooding. The only problem is it isn't loud enough for you to hear it over the blaring "Hot, Hot, Hot" music in the bar.

I don't know what a leakfrog is but there's a diapers.com ad on the sidebar.

Big huge thumbs up to the leak frog. It's saved my bacon 3 times: Once when my water heater sprung a leak, once when one of the hoses to my washing machine split, and once when the drain hose from my AC condenser clogged up and overflowed. I can't recommend Leak Frogs highly enough.

@brickfrenzy - You shouldn't be allowed to use water.

Bought a couple of these during a long-ago woot-off. I'd like to thank brickfrenzy - I bought an extra to give as a gift to some friends whose basement had a history of leaks - a week before they sold their house. Now I know what to do with it - put it in the "drip pan" of my heat pump.

@debbiedunlap: $19.49 shipped to Buffalo. I'll wait for a woot-off, but they go fast on there.

Don't bad mouth the mighty leak frog. It may save your life. Plus he's so bloody cute!

@thewootenator: To be fair, the water heater was 15 years old, the furnace nearly 25, and the washer a hand-me-down from my parents from when I bought the house. It just happened that all my old appliances failed within a year of each other.

We have 8 LeakFrogs in our house, in every possible place that water may appear. They have proved useful quite a few times. Once, the freezer's thermostat stuck off, and things started melting. The LeakFrog sitting under the door started squealing, and let us know about it.

My only complaint is that they don't scream loud enough to be heard from a few rooms away. They are uncomfortably load if you are right next to them, but that sound falls off real quick in the next room or upstairs.

the leak frog has warned me of issues on at least two occasions -- although, as one poster mentioned, it didn't tell me about my bust water pipe when i was away on vacation. if only leak frogs knew how to send text messages or e-mails ...

... as a matter of fact, that would be a pretty nice idea.

* bah, leakfrog unavailable now -- and i was seriously considering *

Looks like someone "jumped" on this deal. get it? get it? ah, shut up.

YES!!! The washing machine at our house 2 months ago had overfilled-this baby squeled and saved the day!! Bought only 1 and that was the last time I saw on Woot-off. All the ones I found had 'out of stock'. Going to buy more for sure.
