I can't believe deals.woot and woot both are selling Philips craps
Don't buy this crap from WOOT !!
I recently bought Philips 47'' refurbished TV from woot.com. It didn't work the first time I turned it on. It took Philips three weeks to "fix" my TV and it only worked for a week! It is such a waste of time to deal with Philips horrible customer service and WOOT told me stories like "they will likely replace it with something new". It such a lie!!! Philips makes really low quality and very unreliable TV. Based on my personal experience, even though it is a good price, it is not a good deal at all. WOOT will charge you shipping if you want to return the product. For a TV like that, it will cost you more than $100 for shipping.

@jj983: I wouldn't blame Woot for a Phillips issue... Woot was just the vendor. You know the return policy of woot ahead of time, so don't act shocked when they want you to pay return shipping on an item, in fact most companies are this way.

I'd say bash away at Phillips, but don't hate Woot...

if woot knows what crap they are selling, then the onus is on them for offering it in the first place.

It's true that Woot has its policies well explained and stated. However, Phillips is well known for having a terrible reputation when it comes workmanship to reliability to customer service. One can peruse electronics sales to find a plethora of Phillips refurbished products. If Woot was more concerned about their loyal customers they would think twice about offering Phillips products.

In personal experience I have owned several Phillips TV's had most of them 10 years or so, heck one in the basement still works like the day it came out of the box, with no issues at all.

One needs to remember when it comes to the web (or any medium) for reporting many people only post the bads, usually when they had a bad experience. When one purchases an item & has a pleasant experience they say nothing.

Think of it like this: How many news stories do you see where people actually good? Very few & far between... Now compare that to how many bad stories you have.

Millions of planes take off & land safely every day, but you let one crash it's all over world news...

Please remember, Philips no longer manufacturers these TVs, they are made by Funai, under the Philips brand.

What a bunch of grumpy people. I, likewise, have had Philips TVs in the past and with no problems. You guys state the the product failure rate is high. Precisely define "high" - not on relative terms ("oh, it's the worst in the industry") that tells me nothing. Define it in absolute terms. .5%? 2%? 20%? and over what period of time? Don't just sit and gripe using anecdotes. Provide real, hard, facts.

If there were no failures, there would be no "refurbs"!

The price is a little high considering this screen is only 2.5 inches?

I have a 42" LCD, which is a secondary TV and was hardly used. Slightly after the 1 year warranty, the LED sensor for the remote control stopped working. So now I have a really expensive, low resolution computer monitor! I won't buy another Phillips LCD.

I've had one of these for a little over two years (bought from target). My little brother uses it for playing xbox on a daily basis and everything still works on it. The only con is that the picture is not as good as my Sony, but other than that, it's been a pretty solid tv.

Probably not a bad TV for the price, but it's a 60hz. As a result, you'll get a lot of streaking during sporting events and the like. If it were a 120hz at this price, I'd be more interested.

Refurbs are what they are, you roll the dice when you buy one. Get the SquareTrade if it's offered, with what you're saving on the unit it would be worth it.

I purchased a Philips 42" off of Woot about a year ago - remote stopped working after 1 month. I called and customer service was great. They connected me with a local repair service, fixed under warranty, no problems since. It is a gamble but, I still am a satisfied customer.

Amen, nothing but headaches! Try the 42" on Yugster today. Internet and Netflix capable for just a little more! Woot!

It the mexican refurbisher that caint figure out that the base is attached the the back of the screen not the plastic back which would fix the problem.

I bought this off woot a few months ago, no problems at all!!!!!!!! LOVE the TV!!!!!
