I haven't the smallest amount of respect for Blockbuster. Nor do I have the smallest inkling of wishing to deal with them again.
I had BB online a few years ago. I picked BB over Netflix because of the ability to return/exchange in-store. When thwy changed their terms and raised prices, I switched to Netflix. From my experience, Netflix wins hands-down. I can mail a film on Monday, Netlix has it Tues and I receive another movie on Wed. With BB, they wouldn't even show receipt until Wed and I would be lucky to see the next disk by Friday.
No thanks.
Besides, Netflix often offers a 1 month trial making Netflix the cheaper option.
Regardless of if Netflix is better, Blockbuster often offers 2 weeks for free and sometimes 4 weeks for free. I gave it a shot on a 4 week offer a last summer. They ended up messing up my account and gave me an extra few weeks for free.
I would argue that it is not a great deal to get 1/2 off when you can get the free trial for nothing.
@altonb1: I second everything you said and went through exactly the same experience. I would also add that Netflix lets you watch a ton of streaming movies anytime on your computer or through a set top box, XBOX360, PS3 and in the very near future the Wii.
The biggest difference in my opinion is 1)Netflix has streaming content and 2)Blockbuster now includes game rentals in their mail service. Which to choose comes down to which of those two is most important to you. Otherwise they're pretty comparable.
