A chair is something that should be sat ini before buying. I'd go to the store first sit in it, if you like it try to buy it in store for the online price. They usually match their online prices if you ask.

vote-for3vote-against

I went to staples the last time they had this deal
It's a pretty mediocre chair, there's nothing that great about it
You could do far better

vote-for3vote-against

@kevskoolkars: I agree completely about sitting in a chair before you buy it. I am about to spend anywhere from $49.99 to lots-o-bucks on the "perfect" computer chair, with a change in my job to one in front of a screen much of the day. I wouldn't dream of trusting my comfort to just any ol' McChair, with due respect to the fine folks at Staples.

Personally
Last time they had this deal I went out to staples and tested it out
But since I'm a cheap bastard I went and checked what all they had and settled on a simple task chair that was nice for a week or two, then the back got all loose and now it is an end table

A few days ago I hit up the salvation army and they had these awesome heavy duty conference chairs for 10bux each that are far better than anything I saw at staples (other than the ones that cost 200+ anyway)
So I got one of those and it's pretty nice

So you know, shop around a little
A used chair like mine is nice because you know it won't deflate in a week or something, and how comfortable it is now is as comfortable as it will always be

vote-for3vote-against

Looks like a damn good deal to me! In for 1

vote-for7vote-against

that salvation army chair looks like it rolled out of the early 70s... but i guess if your whole house has the austin powers theme going, it will blend in perfectly

vote-for5vote-against

I'm actually sitting in this right now; I've owned it for just over a year and a half. I'd give it a 7/10 when I first purchased it, but now it's about a solid 5. The cushioning was so compacted after a handful of months that I resorted to using a pillow...then the back started loosening up and the bolts that hold the arms on are stripped (still on, but loose and refuse to go in deeper) from everyday use.
But hey - it still works, albeit not in the most comfortable of ways, but if you're looking for something cheap and high-back, this is not a bad choice to make.

@lifevirusx: nice woot dhtml modal comment window open on your monitor, sir

vote-for1vote-against

@merce30: Hurr
I prefer function over form
It's really sturdy and comfortable, and if I really wanted to I could just put a slipcover over it

vote-for3vote-against

@lifevirusx: Instead of a slip cover I'd recommend some cleaning & put some money into that floor... Step away from the computer...

On a side note there are a few things you MUST buy new. Anything with fabric is one of those things. Chairs, beds, couches, etc. You don't know what has been spilled on it, what has been done on it, & what has been left there...

vote-for2vote-against

I usually have some problems with Chairs, I am exceptionally large, a muscular 6'6'', and most chairs are designed for someone about 5'10'' to 6' at best, so "lumbar support" becomes rather like someone trying to grab my rear admiral

vote-for1vote-against

@lifevirusx: You should buy one of the 3'X 3' plastic floor mats to protect your floor under your chair so your floor doesn't get chummed up anymore.

vote-for2vote-against

@kevskoolkars: I just bought two in-store for the same price. This deal is in this week's circular. I just built them at home a few minutes ago and they feel fine enough for the money. I also have a Greeley model from the same product line that does feel a little nicer... better "leather" and cushion.

vote-for1vote-against

Don't forget to add the 3-year furniture protection plan for $9.99 through the website or $4.99 in-store. Something will happen within 3 years that qualifies for replacement. My Greeley manager's chair got a hole in the leather from my cat's claw, go figure. Covered. Since my chair was discontinued, they sent me a "Staple's Cash Card" for the full (Black Friday) purchase price of $119... even though I had already received a $40 Visa pre-paid check card as a rebate. I now have two chairs from the money for the one chair, plus they let me keep the scratched chair.

vote-for1vote-against

If you buy on-line... add the furniture protection plan by going to the "Supplies & Accessories" tab. Last item in the list is the $50-99 furniture protection plan for $9.99. If you buy in-store, they sell a $0-49.99 FPP for $4.99. If you have to make a claim, they will only give you the $49.99 back either way.

vote-for1vote-against

@kevskoolkars: If the possibility that someone sat on it naked or something is enough to put you off buying used then you really need to

chill out

And the salvation army disinfects everything they get with some pretty hardcore cleaning so it's not like you'll catch herpes from it, and obviously you can look at it before you buy it to see any obvious stains and whatnot

@frontxxrunner: I want to but I haven't gotten around to it and they tend to be expensive (relatively) I don't see the point in spending 3x as much as I did on a chair on a sheet of plastic
The house is old, the paint is peeling off the floor and such

vote-for1vote-against

@lifevirusx: No it's not the sitting naked part that bothers me... It's the what did they leave in that bothers me. Think of it this way: If there was a mattress that had (mod edit: profanity) stains & blood in it would you buy it? Even if they had sprayed it with disinfectant & bleached it? I didn't think so.

Like I said, there's just some stuff you buy new.

vote-for2vote-against

@lifevirusx: I work at a Goodwill, which is pretty much a salvation army, as well as have co workers who work there. I can guarantee you all we do is take it in, make sure it's clean enough, and the price it. It's usually up to the end users to clean up the used goods.

vote-for1vote-against

@kevskoolkars: How would you know unless they told you?

@lskennedy: Well it's not that hard to clean something on your own, and although they're basically the same concept they probably have different methods
But I don't know for sure
It had a tag attached that said CONTENTS DISINFECTED and the location of a store that was not the one I purchased it at
I don't think they could get away with lying about that

vote-for1vote-against

@lifevirusx: Because you assume the worse when it comes to other people owning or using stuff. Do you know what happens to rental cars???

vote-for0vote-against

This chair's decent for the money - not the softest thing ever, but solid with nice lumbar support. But I still recommend you guys actually go to Staples and try it out before you buy it. I did - and ended up getting the Montessa model instead, because I liked it better and because someone kindly left an old sale tag on it.

vote-for1vote-against

Price comes up at $69.99 for me. Still a decent deal at $60 off, especially so as I've been using one of these at work for a few months. Definitely passable, compared to most chairs at the same price point.
Only concern is that the back is held on by the arms; had a cheaper version of this, and one of the arms shattered after only three or four months. Hopefully the more expensive one will hold out a little better. In for one.

vote-for1vote-against

Just bought the chair about 10 hours ago. It is pretty easy to set up. As far as comfort goes, yeah, it's stiff, but it's also comfortably compact. I really dig it, and the lumbar support, as mentioned earlier, is pretty nifty. My posture is so much better then with my old P.O.S. chair.

vote-for1vote-against

I still love this chair!
