In for two. The description says "Original Fossil Company Warranty " so... they should be decent watches.

Keep in mind they're $15 shipped.

vote-for5vote-against

Is it just me, or does it seem kinda ironic for the word "Fossil" and the abbreviation for "Internet Protocol" to be used to describe the same product? Of course, this IS a watch - which is used to measure TIME after all... so maybe that's the point. Or maybe it's time for me to go to bed.

And why is it that when I wind up my watch, I start it... but when I wind up my comment, I end it? Hmmmm.

vote-for11vote-against

90% off $100 watches? Excuse me while I sit here and suspect something...

vote-for1vote-against

@silentlegend: I heard they mugged a bunch of people that were all wearing the same watch, and now they are for sale here. They're hot, so take your chances; some guy might come back looking for his watch!

PS: I might take my chances for one of each... Wish me luck!

@thefenst: After checking reviews, looks like a scary place... Will you help us if something goes bad like you did for those in the post here?

Anyone know anything about FMD? I'm trying to search the web, but I just see similar deals on watches.

vote-for2vote-against

I can say this much I have bought two watches from this company for like 5.99 plus shipping and they still work a year latter. I got the bright idea from wooters suggesting them. So no problems with company.

vote-for1vote-against

I bought one from another website. Very nice watch but seems a bit light in weight. It is a nice looking watch

vote-for2vote-against

I've ordered two, hopefully there will be no complications. They say they are in the process of moving and to bear with them, in light of that other link my paranoia says this is merely a ruse.

Anyways, I got the Akribos Automatic for my brother and the, in my opinion, much prettier Akribos Mechanical for myself.

vote-for3vote-against

I'd be pretty cautious with this. Trying to find any info on FMD is nearly impossible. Its not a registered trademark of Fossil or anyone else that makes watches with the US Patent Office. Nearly the only reference to FMD I can find on the internet (aside from sites selling their watches) is here: http://mywristwatch.net/printthread.php?tid=236

That link mentions they're based in Texas. Fossil is based in Texas as well. So maybe Fossil has something to do with importing these cheap watches, but they certainly don't look like generic Fossil quality watches. Go search FMD on Amazon and you'll see mostly crappy reviews.

The "retail price" that Dyanamite Time gives is a load of crap. Clearly it, plus the mention of "..by Fossil" it to trick you into thinking these are quality. Don't be surprised if you buy one and its a huge letdown. These probably aren't even worth the $10 they're selling them for.

vote-for13vote-against

@marrob: Yup! Here's one of the posts from that WOOT discussion from a year ago:

"I noticed on the DYNAMITEWATCH.COM website that they are selling a Citizen Eco-Drive watch for $49.00. So I called the Citizen Watch Company. They have a list of their "Authorized Internet Retailers" on their website, and this company is NOT one of them. They told me the watch was a fake; they don't have that style. Also, there are other complaints on www.ripoffreport.com. Let the buyer beware! I agree WOOT.com should not be doing business with this company. They don't even have a phone number you can contact...that should be a clue..."

Clicked through and saw that the "Fossil" wording had been removed. I'd avoid them things like the plague.

Unless you want a green wrist to complete the zombie look, then the plague is exactly what you want.

vote-for2vote-against

@marrob: Of course. Should you need me to, I will reach out directly to the merchant on your behalf.

vote-for1vote-against

FMD seems to be Fossil's entry level brand. I imagine they added it into the description to give the deal a little more gravitas.

vote-for1vote-against

I did some looking and the reviews, scant as they are, are pretty scary. There is a Walmart reference out there too. Aside from the too good to be true aspect, I think I would (and will) avoid like the plague.

vote-for3vote-against

It would seem wooters have been having nothing but problems with this merchant. If things start to go awry this time, may I suggest Woot cease posting their deals ever again?

vote-for3vote-against

@firebirdude: That'd seem like a good idea, although we also have to consider just how much "filtering" we want to see on a site like this. Fortunately, community input seems to do a pretty good job ... if we're effective at tipping each other off, everyone can decide what they want to do, report their expriences ... and in theory, the really bad vendors will lose business - and reputation - here.

vote-for4vote-against

i understand that these watches come off as pretty shady, which is why i'm a bit hesitant to write this. early this year, i bought five of another type of fmd watch from this site, because i figured if they worked, they would be a nice gift to my wedding party.

i got the five watches in about two weeks, and every one of them worked out of the box. one had what appeared to be a tiny chip on the face, so i decided to use it as my "test" watch. i wore it around for two months with zero issues. figured that was a good enough test to decide the watches were adequate for the gifts.

to the best of my knowledge, each one is still working today. maybe i was just lucky?

vote-for3vote-against

@wacky1980: " ... i'm a bit hesitant to write this ..."

See what happens? People get shy about voicing "minority opinions." Personally, I'm glad to see the positive stuff thrown into the mix. I'm still going to avoid this vendor (that discussion from a while back was pretty ugly) but this thing runs on everyone sharing their experience - so thanks!

vote-for1vote-against

@sdbcmr: True. But if wooters start to get ripped after this sale, that will be two separate and confirmed times woot has presented us with this company and wooters got ripped. I'm against censorship, but I think this qualifies to be caught in even the loosest of filters.

And unfortunatly not everyone reads the comments before purchasing. Just look at the folks buying Woot's battery deal today LOLOL

vote-for2vote-against

@firebirdude: Hah! Point taken. I'm also noting how many people are giving this deal a "plus" ... go figger. I think you're probably right: there may be a point where Woot says "enough" and pulls the chain on a vendor. In the meantime, this is a really good discussion - positive and negative experiences posted, lots to consider.

Me, I'd avoid a vendor like this.

vote-for1vote-against

got about 10 Fossil watches, really like them, lately been getting Diesel watches, fo 10 bucks I'll bite.

vote-for1vote-against

@fredrinaldi: Hope you'll come back and let us know how it goes.

vote-for2vote-against

I've bought a few cheap watches from this company before and never had a problem. As long as you know what you are getting (a cheap watch) and are OK with that, you should be fine.

vote-for1vote-against

I would never wear any jewelry that was made of "Black IP Base Metal"... In fact I would never buy anything that is so generic it doesn't even say if it is steel, aluminum, copper.... the thing just says "metal"! rofl probably made of lead.

vote-for1vote-against

@sdbcmr:
will do. go to your web site for feedback?

vote-for2vote-against

@fredrinaldi: Nope ... just drop in here at WOOT and let us know how it went. Thanks!

vote-for1vote-against

I have 2 Fossil watches in the past. Both failed only after a couple of months. They look certainly look stylish, but the quality is crappy.

vote-for1vote-against

"Limitation of Liabilit"

They can't even spell their T&C sections correctly... Scammers!
