forgot to mention FREE SHIPPING

Currently they're $2.99 each... that was a short deal..

vote-for2vote-against

@smorloc: Did you even try to use the coupon?

It isn't over yet - it just hasn't STARTED yet.

Coupon code will "go live" at 8AM PST today (11AM EST).

vote-for1vote-against

"The coupon (MLCK401024032260NL1) you entered can not be used until: 2010-03-22 08:00 PST"

That would be why it is $2.99 for now...

@smorloc: Re-read the post description - the sale doesn't start until 11am EST today. These things are so handy. I bought 6 last time they were on sale and gave them to family members. They come with a little paper diagram that explains each "tool" - make copies because that was the first thing I lost.

Does it work for more than 1 for anyone else? It's only discounting for 1 if I put say more than 1..:p. Anyone?

vote-for1vote-against

Live now.. Coupon discounts 2.04 so it only works for the first purchase.

vote-for0vote-against

Well then I'm the only one of importance. I win.

vote-for1vote-against

it won't let you ship to an address different than your billing address... the checkout doesn't have and "shipping name" fields, and it comes back as "error: shipping name not filled out" when you submit!

vote-for1vote-against

Has anyone used one of these? It doesn't look as good as a Victorinox Knife.

vote-for2vote-against

@acieffe:
Very few things are as good as a Swiss army knife. Still, these are quite handy for the price.

vote-for1vote-against

worked for me with the coupon code. I can wait 2 - 3 weeks for it. $0.95 and free shipping for a piece of usable steel. good find.

vote-for1vote-against

It may turn out to be crap, and yes I'm sure it's not as good as a Victorinox, but for less than a buck and free shipping? I'm willing to splurge.

vote-for1vote-against

I'm in for one. I'm sure I'll be able to get a dollars use out of it.
Anyone tried doing multiple orders and getting more than one?

vote-for4vote-against

I ordered one of these from Meritline a few weeks ago when it was posted. It took 2 weeks to arrive.
It comes in a faux-leather pouch which is just gonna add more thickness to your wallet should you choose to keep it there but may offer extra protection for credit cards.
The flat knife blade is very sharp but will lose its edge quickly. The saw blade is double serrated which was an unexpected plus - but good luck using it for any heavy duty work, because the thin piece of metal is hard to get a good grip on. In a survival situation it could yet be useful.
The wrench tools could be useful but anyone who needs to use this regularly as a wrench would obviously do well to purchase an actual set of wrenches. This would work fine for one-off usage provided it is the right size.
Overall I was satisfied with the purchase. The bottle-opener is probably what I'll use the most and if I ever get in a survival situation, the other features could come in handy too. $1 is a very agreeable price.

I thought I'd add that many seem confused by the purpose of the "Direction Ancillary indicator". The idea is that you can place the tool on a very flat, smooth surface, put a couple drops of water in the circle, and after charging a piece of wire with static (by rubbing it on your hair or via similar methods), float it on the water's surface tension for a makeshift compass. Don't ask me if that actually works though. I'd surely hate to have to use this while lost in the wilderness.

vote-for1vote-against

Thinkgeek has carried these for a long time, along with a lot of other various portable multitools. For 95c flat, you really can't beat that kind of tool in your wallet.

vote-for5vote-against

The saw blade works OK, but it took forever to prune our apple trees with it.

vote-for1vote-against

To the guy that said the shipping and billing address is forced to be the same: There's a checkbox that's under the billing address titled "ship to above address". Uncheck it and more form fields appear after a page refresh.

vote-for1vote-against

wouldn't take a second order from me right away. For a dollar it is great!

vote-for1vote-against

If first code doesn't work try this code:MLCK401024032240N It will cost $1.95, but still a good price.

vote-for1vote-against

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. I've used it for the bottle opener, the blade to open boxes, and thats about it. I'm in for another.

vote-for1vote-against

@ikefox: I totally agree with your breakdown of the tool. I got this the last time it was on Meritline. Its a pretty nice thing to have for those "just in case" situations. Very nice price too considering its free shipping as well.

vote-for2vote-against

I got one =)

Bought 2 awhile ago. Took about 2 1/2 weeks to get here. Steel is thick, not flimsy. Happy with overall purchase. Only downside was the instructions card for each tool wasn't in English.

vote-for0vote-against

Almost pulled the trigger, but when I read that using the coupon code, I was consenting to them sending me promotional emails, and that's not for me. Do you have to provide a real email or will a bogus one work for this deal?

vote-for2vote-against

@acieffe: Not the same as a swiss army knife, but it does have some cool features. For the price, it is nice item to have in a wallet or glove compartment.

vote-for2vote-against

I got mine very quickly, less than two weeks. I'm in for more to give as stocking stuffers for my brothers. I've already used it a few times as a screw driver. The point of the can opener actually worked well on some small phillips head screws. YMMV

vote-for2vote-against

I bought 15 of these the last time... saving them for stocking stuffers for Christmas. They are great! Free shipping and yes, you can order multiples for the same price.

vote-for1vote-against

I tried doing another order (using my same account) with the coupon code to get it for .95c again. No dice, it says can only use the coupon code once, so only one for .95c per account I guess.

vote-for1vote-against

Still live working and FREE SHIPPING :)

vote-for1vote-against

In for one, since the coupon only works for one. ^_^

Ships directly from China, so might take a while (took 3 weeks to SoCal). Shipped in one of those padded envelopes which do not hold up to much abuse. Mine came opened but taped. All contents were inside.

Secondly, the vinyl sleeve is so cheap! 4 out of 10 were torn or cracked! Be aware if you are giving them away as gifts.

vote-for1vote-against

These things are stupidly hilarious

vote-for1vote-against

@squatchy: If you use code MLCK401024032240N you can get more for $1.95.

vote-for1vote-against

Ordered one, seems the code will only dicount a single item.

We'll see how it is when it arrives... looks good for a dollar.

vote-for1vote-against

It's dead now guys, I didn't get one. But the coupon MLCK401024032240N for 1.95 still works...thinking about it too.

vote-for1vote-against

If you are truly banking on this device for your survival then you're probably screwed.
