why all the downvotes..? i have one and i think it's fairly nice. if anything, gets rid of odors, and for that alone it's worth it.

I have a couple different sizes of these & they work great. I use the smaller one (same size as the one pictured) next to my cat's litter box & have a larger one in the living room where the dogs & cats hang out. I had to replace the bulb in the larger unit after only 3 months but the replacement has lasted over 1.5 years of 24/7 use (the smaller unit has been maintenance free so far).

Great reviews at Amazon ($35.28 for one with free shipping - $10 for replacement lamps). This looks like a good deal to me. I'm in for one bogo. Do all the downvoters even know what they're voting on?

Germicidal UV-C has wavelengths below 280 nm which are absorbed by oxygen to produce ozone. The ozone is highly reactive and will neutralize odors and age paint, lungs and other surfaces!

But GG claims they do not emit ozone. So they must use an optical filter to limit wavelengths to those above 240 nm. So a lot of energy will be wasted, But if the air stream draws airborne particulates really close to the bulb, they will be exposed to wavelengths around 260 nm where DNA and aromatic amino acids are easily damaged.

I don't smell any ozone from the unit.
I have one by the cat box (works way better than the charcoal filters), and one by the diaper pail.
Before, I could smell the diapers (even with the Diaper Genie) when I opened the door.... now I can't.

I love both of mine!

Maybe one of the down-voters should speak up rather than just poo-poo'ing anonymously.

vote-for1vote-against

Indeed. If someone downvotes, they should have a reason, and if they have a reason that is not obvious or already expressed, they should share it here in an effort to help other shoppers..... duh.

I have a couple of questions. I have 2 Ionic Quadra's from sharper image that do not have Bulbs but use ionic technology. I have one Ionic that has what appears to be a black lite in it and a few off names of ionic air filters. I have bad allergies, how would I benefit adding these to my house. Would this just be good for odor control?

The instructions for redeeming the deal aren't clear. It doesn't really say if you should purchase 1 or 2 to get the discount. Putting in 1 never indicated that it would automatically add the 2nd. Putting in 2, I couldn't get it to take off the discount and give me a sub-total. There was the "one step" purchase page that showed a subtotal of 79.99. Either way, the discount always showed up as $0.00.

Without placing the order, you don't really know what you are going to get...perhaps that is why there are all the downvotes?

EDIT: When you select 1 and add it to the cart, it says "2 pack" in the description, but other than that it is easy to miss.

@fitzkid: If you put 1 in your cart, you can clearly see a picture of two units side by side. The second unit has red text over top of it sayng "+ free". I'm not sure how they can be more clear. Not only that, but the title of the item in your cart is labeled "GG1000 Pluggable UV-C Air Sanitizer 2 PACK"

I guess this is why packages of peanuts say "may contain nuts"
