This thing looks cool! just wondering how well the igniter would hold up? And can you get a new ignition when it stops working,or is the gun disposable?

@crughes I've not personally used this unit but I'm certain you could fit a BBQ ignition unit onto it if needed.

@sirnasty: Funny thing is i was think of my grills igniter always breaking thats why i ask. The listing mentioned a twisting igniter. But i think you may have the right idea.

"Perfect for a game of fetch with your dog or CAT." I would love to see a cat fetch a ball even 20 feet away.

If you're wondering how these work, or if you want to build your own, here is a cool video:

@crughes: your are definately going to modify the ignitor a bit (I switched mine out to a BBQ one as well). Just rememebr the BBQ one needs a ground point to function, unless you get the battery type.

I bought one of these last time they were on Woot and the ignition doesn't work at all, I contacted the company and they sent a new one that is just the same as the first and does not work. At some point when I have time I will have to look at modifying it to use something else.

The igniter that comes with this unit is flint operated (like a cigarette lighter). I couldn't get it to work because it kept getting wet from the hair spray and ultimately ground the flint completely away. You can replace the flint, but I haven't bothered. I plan to swap out for a BBQ ignitor when I have a chance. It was a good gift idea for the price, but left me frustrated in the end. It is also somewhat on the small side. I would recommend just going to the hardware store and building your own.

Why not build your own? That's half the fun!

Use a very small squirt of starting fluid. I have a homemade one and starting fluid makes that thing kick. Also beets work great. Make a plunger for your gun to push the projectile down just to the ignition chamber. You can take a sock or small towel and fire it indoors.
