Hard to see it being cheaper than this. I'd charge more than $99 just to receive and throw peoples spit canisters in the garbage, much less analyze it for dna.
Plus $14.95 S&H.
I grabbed one. The concept has always interested me, but the price was a bit too high. For $100, I felt it was worth it. Good find.
Cool! Got one for me and my sweetie. Should be interesting, and might come in handy if it turns out either of us has an unfortunate genetic predisposition.
OMG I'm so glad you guys put this up on here. I have been DYING to get this done- but i really couldn't afford to at 400 bucks a pop. Got one for me and my honey! WOOT!
they updated the deal to now say "until 5pm PDT"
in for one. my husband is adopted and has always wanted to know this stuff.
awesome deal, thanks!
I'm getting one! Very excited. Thank you for posting this.
was nice to see "DNA Day discount -$1600"
also, found this an interesting read: http://spittoon.23andme.com/2008/10/28/23andkids-growing-up-genotyped/
This is a great deal.
As a medical student I think this would be great information for us all to know. Especially if you want to have kids.
Also, having worked in a lab and done these reactions this stuff is NOT cheep to do. So $99 is probably at cost for them... or less.
In for two.
Really having a tough time deciding on this one. On the One hand I would love to do it, on the other hand... eeek, the thought of knowing predisposition to things..
I've always wondered about my genealogy. WOW..What a deal. If this thing goes good for these guys then NEXT TIME they might charge $99 for EACH TEST instead of $99 for both. In for one.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. i just saw this! i needed less than 5 more minutes. i can't believe that were so precise on the time limit :(
emphatic :(
What luck, the deal died mid-checkout and it didn't honor my cart price :( Now when I die from metastatic keratinosis that could have been detected early had I not been so poor I will make sure my tombstone blames this company.
:( deal gone
Frustrated. Waited for my sister-in-law tonight, tried to buy five once she agreed - but the deal was gone. Hey, 23andme, it's still DNA day here, but the deal is gone. Or is it DNA night after 6p? I'm very interested, and as Chair of a Department of Biomedical Engineering, 23andme would get some free publicity in my course/among my colleagues - likely customers. Not now, though.
It went away way before 5 PDT.
It's over. Too bad - I was definitely interested for me and my kids at $100, but $499 is way too much for curiosity.
Damn missed it. For $100 it is worth it but can't go for that $500 price.
i got an email from them after asking a question that said this deal was good only for today. i guess they got too many orders and had to bail out early?
Darn, I am sad that I missed this. I'm doing a report on chromosomal analysis for my Cell Culture class and this would've been a stellar deal. :(
Aw man I missed it! This would have been great for me as I was adopted at birth and know literally nothing about any of my family's medical history.... Crap, hopefully there's a next time, ha ha.
Is this closed -- need a promo code?
I first became a deal ghetto dog over at Ben's Bargains. To get the deals you make the rounds in the morning. and if you see something you want, you have to jump on it. So, yeah, I got mine $114 instead of $500. Woot!
Thanks to the original poster. I would have never found this by chance. By the way, they are slammed. I sent them an e-mail and they said they would respond in three days. They will get it sorted out. One of the founders is married to Brin of Google.
how do i get this for $100. i clicked on link and was taken to their site where it was 4 to 5 hundred $.
@brenjacob: @martachas The deal was for one day only - yesterday. It was DNA Day.
@da5id: "One of the founders is married to Brin of Google."
When I opened my Gmail today, this was advertised at the top http://www.dnatribes.com/?g-co&gclid=CNzjnbH-n6ECFRRM5QodeGQlzw
i have this thing on my backed shaped like Abraham Lincoln. my son has this thing on his back shaped like Lincoln, Nebraska. i always said, that has to be genetic, right? now we'll know.
@thebadgerbuck: That is funny stuff!
Darn. Sorry I missed it. However, do we know just how reliable this company is?
I'll have to mark April 24th down for next year. This would have been fun.
this was a bait and switch b.s. come on. the company is evidently not to be trusted.
out of curiosity, did ANYONE succeed in actually getting the test done for the $100 advertised in this offer or was this a total scam?
yeah, I got 3 of them at the 99 price. Got an email confirmation. It was for the 23rd only until 5 PDT.
