I watched the video review of the camera, and it's pretty impressive! I expected a very grainy, hard-to-see image, but it was actually very clear. Very nice for the price!

I had a generic chinese version of these (not that this isn't, lol) and they're great for hobby use. I put mine inside a model rocket and got some great footage. You could do the same with an RC car or helicopter, kite, or whatever else.

I looked at the review and its amazing for the price. I just have no reason to own the thing. Damn. Wish I were a cheap spy.

vote-for8vote-against

Got one, no idea what I'll do with it though but who cares

vote-for4vote-against

look at the shipping costs !!! be careful

vote-for12vote-against

So, from previous deals.woots I heard GearXS are really not a good company, but this looks like a really cool gadget. What advice do the experienced people have? increasing shipping costs are not the only thing, I hear

vote-for9vote-against

i pulled the trigger cause, why not. We all need to act like a spy sometimes!

Nice darkmagician1184. It's actually cheaper on Amazon from merchant, QQ Tech.

vote-for7vote-against

While others might have had better experiences, nothing I have ordered from GearXS actually made it to me (refunds though). For model rockets and R/C planes go spring the $40 it costs to get a <30 gram 720p camera made for such things. The frame rate and resolution on this device are lacking, but I like the clip holder and mount. Webcam capability and sound activated stand-by mode sounds like it might make this a poor-man's home or even automobile security system!

I own one for my line of work. And it's awesome!!! Must buy!!

vote-for4vote-against

I just got one of these last week from overhalfsale.com, but they appear to be gone now. Paid a total of 20 dollars with shipping, no memory card. For the price it's a fun toy. The image quality is fairly good and even with a class 4, 8gb card the frame rate is good too. So far, no major drawbacks, but some minor annoyances are that the instructions are very poorly translated. Good enough to figure out in the end, but several parts took rereading to understand. Also, with the shirt/pocket clip thing, it seems to tend to aim too high to be effective.

For this price, I may just get a second.

Not so good reviews on Amazon, in fact a lot of terrible reviews...
and not so hot price also.

I don't think I've ever been so suspicious of corporate comments as I have looking through the ones left for this product... That being said, what a great deal! It's perfect for all my family and work needs! In for six!

"very fashionable and wearable"

A hidden camera is now fashionable? Wow, pretty sketchy world we're living in.

I got one last time around. Will never buy from GearXS again. Instructions were barely even understandable (Engrish), could not get my Mac to recognize the camera even though they claimed it could, and GearXS was absolutely no help. They referred me to their web blog, where I was insulted by other customers and one staffer for no apparent reason other than asking for help.
They DID offer to refund my money if I sent it back to them (in China), but the return postage was cost prohibitive.

So I STILL have this thing sitting in a box. Anyone know how to get it to work on a Mac? Anyone want to buy mine?

BTW The included software was furnished on one of those tiny discs that cannot be used in a slot-loading drive.

I bought one of these mini recorders off another site just a few weeks ago for about 4x this much. The brand name it used was Muvi. Its an OK recorder as long as you aren't looking for crystal clear audio or video. Particularly, the audio. Its just bad. I added a wide-angle lens and some velcro so I could affix it to my dashboard for a car-cam. Battery life is excellent for its size, I've gotten over 2 hours on a charge, and still havent worn it completely down. Its worth playing with at under $15.

I had one of these in my car with the sound activation mode on inside my center console inside a close part. I took my car to get the side window replaced because someone broke it on the night before halloween.

Long story short I set it up before I left my car at the shop, came the same day to pick up my car, and found the camera was gone. Everything else in the car was there but I am pretty OCD and noticed multiple items in my glove box and center console were moved from their previous spots. I confronted the shop owner and explained what happened. He said he had to stand by his guys and hes never had a problem before. I told him that he can stand by them all he wants but I know exactly what happened and they had no business going into my closed compartments to fix a side window.

I explained that I worked for the law department for our city and that when I got into work I was going to talk to a detective to get the history of his shop. The next day they magically found my camera.

Don't believe the negative reviews. If you're Tech-Savy these are very easy to operate and make great videos for the price.

I picked one up two years ago off some chinese website that took a month to ship it but it was free. I think I paid 10$ for it. Can't beat it for the price.

They work great for paintball videos.

I clipped one to my 2 year old niece's bib and let her walk around with it. It's fun to see the work from their view and how she roams around the house.

vote-for4vote-against

I think we've overwhelmed their website. :(

Edit: Finally got in and ordered 2. They charge shipping and handling on EACH ITEM. Still a good buy.

vote-for3vote-against

I pulled the trigger and went in for 2. My shipping showed 9.98 for either a quantity of 1 or 2, so it didn't seem to charge for "each".

vote-for2vote-against

In for one! Seems like a fun gadget!

vote-for2vote-against

had one as a webcam - meh.

vote-for5vote-against

I was in for one until I saw the vendor. I am one of the legion who had poor experiences with these guys.

vote-for3vote-against

In for fifteen!

I'll let you know how it goes. Ships from Illinois. I do business up there frequently, so I can stop by and pay them a visit (Chicago style) if it doesn't go well.

vote-for2vote-against

In for one, going to give GearXS one chance to prove themselves against the complaints posted here.

vote-for3vote-against

I picked one of these little cameras up thinking it would be good for in car footage from my RC Truck. The frame rate is lacking and unless the vehicle is standing still you get a Vibrating Jello effect. It does go at 640x480 which is nice for stationary work, and it does have a setting to only record when motion is captured so you could use it as a surveillance camera to ensure that your Roomate is not eating your Ho Ho's

I paid $13 with out a micro SD card and still feel like I got my moneys worth. And you get more mounting options then what is shown. At least I did.

vote-for2vote-against

snagged one of these when some one posted the same deal off Tanga ( $15 shipped / no card ) Still have not received mine yet ( ordered two weeks ago, and account showing they just shipped it yesterday ) But from what I seen it looks like a neat toy for rc car / helicopter, at least that is what I am hoping. Even thought not sure I like the idea of "Jello effect" but at this price I will give it a shot... A jello shot that is.

vote-for2vote-against

this is really cool! the possibilities are literally endless...

vote-for3vote-against

I'm tempted to get one just to see where my cat goes when I let him outside. Other than that.. I really can't think of another use for it.

vote-for2vote-against

Gonna try it as a wildlife cam to have video of the deer eating from out bird feeders. Hope the motion-activation works. Not trail cam quality, but it will satisfy my curiosity, I think. Hope Gear X comes through - they have been slow in the past for me, even just one state away.

vote-for2vote-against

Anyone have a video they could post to see image quality?

vote-for2vote-against

"Anyone have a video . . ."

Scroll to 5:33 on the video in this link.

Also, it appears to be SOUND activated, not MOTION activated. Big distinction.

vote-for3vote-against

I might be tempted to buy if it was coming from a more reputable seller. I've read too many bad stories about GearXS to give them any of my money.

vote-for4vote-against

Would buy one if this vendor had a better rep.

vote-for3vote-against

gearxs has a spotty record, I won't use them again.

vote-for2vote-against

This deal was too good to pass up, so I pulled the trigger on this one from GearSX. Now, I will have another one to go with the one I bought about a year ago (from Amazon ?) for $17. I primarily use mine on my motorcycle just for fun to record my rides, but it would also be great to use as a "nanny-cam" if there was such a need.
Today, I purchased one camera for $8.99 (no micro SD card) and shipped for $4.99. I decided to pay via PayPal for my own peace of mind because they have always taken good care of me when I've experienced problems in the past with other sellers.

vote-for2vote-against

Hope a few of you folks who bought this will check back and let us know your opinion on your purchase.

vote-for2vote-against

So any luck getting this to work with a Mac???

vote-for2vote-against

I'm in for one. I have bought a couple of things from these guys over the holiday and I had no problems. Hopefully i'll have the same luck this time

vote-for2vote-against

I can think of one place where you can lose this.

vote-for2vote-against

I'll risk buying one. How bad can it be?

vote-for3vote-against

Bought one off of amazon and it ships from inside the united states. Also is covered by amazons return policy and I expect zero issues from it. Based on past users reviews do not buy from this place, I picked it up on amazon for 15 including shipping.

@zippy the pinhead: If you get a microsd to usb adapter you can put the card in that and make it work
