I have one of these, one of the best uses of my money in a long time.

Bought it about 2 years ago and no problems whatsoever. strong signal!

my girlfriend bought one about 2 years ago, works great, but it dosnt charge my Ipod Touch.

I got one of these a few years ago from my brother since I had recently gotten a 3G iPod. Worked fantastic with it, much better than the crappy generic Belkin one I had before. Programmable stations means you can adjust for wherever the signals are weakest in your area (or, if you drive between two on your commute, find a good compromise).

i had one.
It sucked big time.

Hooooorible! Spend your money elsewhere. I paid $80 for mine a few years ago and it is probably good if you live in the country but not for city use at all!

Bought one two years ago and HATE it! Hubby uses it in his truck but I can't stand the static and messing with stations especially when traveling. Selecting different stations is tricky and can't (or shouldn't) be done when driving. This thing was the last straw - bought a new car stereo for $75 and installed it myself - now I have full menu access to my classic and an aux 3.5mm input for my shuffles.

Ok, I feel like there's too much loving or hating going on on this page to actually be helpful to people.

I have one of these and use it daily. It's a great way to get your iPod on your car speakers, but just note that the sound quality may be less than perfect. Not always, but enough that you'll take notice. In cities it can be tough to find a good station, and even when you do, expect some occasional interference. I use this in Chicago, and it works for me, but it does take some static searching to find some open air space.

Bottom line: this thing doesnt suck, but it it's also not the second coming. If you wanna listen to your iPod in your car, this will satisfy those needs. If you're an audio perfectionist and you're worried about interference, maybe you should look elsewhere, but then again, it's 19 dollars. Audiophiles should have realized they will need to spend more than that to hit that aural orgasm by now.

I think that each comment should be prefaced by what type of area you live in. Something may work well in a rural/small city area, but not at all in a large metro.

I've been looking for a decent choice, but just came to realize that not having open frequencies(living in Los Angeles) is more of the issue than which brand/model.

Check: http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/vacant for good channels in your area.

I used to use mine about once a week while driving back and forth from Pasadena to a ways into Orange County and was able to get it to work after a little bit hunting around for an empty frequency.

What makes this unit so nice is that you can choose any frequency you want from the 87s up into the 106s or so. With lots of other FM transmitters there's only three or four preset options to choose from, and they're usually in the high 80s. That means if you live somewhere with a lot of NPR or other snooze radio you'll have a hard time getting a signal.

I actually remember a few times while driving across the country I'd pull into somewhere for lunch, turn off my iPod and this thing and then suddenly be blasted by a full strength radio station!

@askewme: Agreed. The signal coming from these just isn't strong enough to knock out even weak stations. The frequency you choose must be 100% free of any other broadcast (nothing but static).

@racinreaver: Unless you are a degenerate, NPR is amazing.

One of the better sounding FM transmitters I have owned over the last eight years, but horribly designed. The casing feels very cheap and the three buttons are large enough to be accidentally pressed if the unit moves around.
I found that I had to drape the cord laterally over my center console to get the least amount of interference, and severe bumps would sometimes hit these buttons, causing the unit to change stations abruptly - the subsequent static would always scare the living hell out of me. I paid $50 for this model at Target seven months ago and the left channel just went out on the connector. Will not be in for this deal.

Overall, would not recommend.

I've had one of these for years, and it works great. I use it every day. The signal is pretty strong, sometimes you get interference from radio stations, but that's why you have three presets. I set mine up so that the 1 2 and 3 buttons on my FM2 correspond with the 1 2 and 3 buttons on the device.

Even on long car rides (CT to FL), I've never driven in an area that's too full of really strong signals for it to work. I've never, ever had "severe bumps" hit one of the buttons.

Can anyone else verify if this does or does not charge the Ipod Touch? Seems like a good deal for a charger & FM transmitter since I have neither.

DON'T BUY THIS! When the sound works decently which is never due to the laws governing the air wave transmission strength it's not worth it. If you aren't picky about sound quality then maybe at this price, but still I wouldn't buy one. The BIGGEST problem with this unit is when it's sunny outside you can't see the display. AND therefore can't select an appropriate channel.
I paid $80 for mine 3 yrs ago and returned it immediately after the road trip when I used it.

@eam587: It charges my iPod touch. It's a 2nd generation itouch (the first release of the 32gb) if that makes any difference

I have the Zune version of this. Pretty awful. To hear anything other than static I need to put the cable up to the rear view mirror. Even then it's pretty poor quality. Also, as just a charger it sucks. Music has static (over an audio cable) when connected to this thing. Don't know if the iPod version has the same problem.

I ordered one after consulting their website for compatabilities, they included my iPhone 3gs in the list http://www.accstation.com/dmonicarfm06.html . Item arrived fairly promptly, although in just a bit of bubble wrap in a small plastic envelope with no documentation at all. Emailed Accstation of my dilemma, they offered to return my money - after I return the item at my cost and a 15% restocking fee. I would say avoid this item if intended for an iPhone, also avoid Accstation.

Ordered on May 7th, May 19th now and they still haven't shipped it

I recently purchased this item from Accstation.com. When it arrived I was suprised to find the item had NO manufacturer packaging or packing slip info of ANY kind. it was simply loose in a bag with my address on the front. this seemed a suspicious way to send something if you're any kind of reputable seller. i mean, I get a packing slip with most ebay purchases, but apparently this company has not caught on to them? the product worked correctly for two days, then simply stopped. one moment it worked, the monster icon glowing red, the next- nothing. I notified the company about the product's sketchy arrival- including no packing slip etc. and received a response saying I could only get a refund if I sent in my packing slip and all original manufacturer packaging. while this is a good price for this product, it's not a good price for a product that works for 48 hours. i will never buy from this company again.
