I have one of these. The cats love it. It holds I think a gallon of water almost.

Cleaning isn't that bad and the pump is sturdy.
I have had it for over a year now, still humming away in the laundry room.

My cats would love this, but I don't know if I could justify the money. Does anybody know if this will clog up with the excessive lime in my water? :(

What sort of filters does it use?

I have a different kind of these, but if you have picky cats they are awesome! I have so much trouble getting my cat to drink water, but I have to fill that thing constantly. She is finally drinking as much as she should.

I have hard water and when I clean it, it takes some extra time scrubbing with an old toothbrush to get all of the buildup off completely. They're really lightweight too so if you have a cat who likes to stick his paw in the center hole so that the water sprays all over everywhere you might want to either get a heavier fountain or build a little holder so it won't tip over when it sprays the cat (who hates water and tries to get away before fully removing his paw from the fountain).

@dg12345: Interesting article, but you've now ruined my enjoyment of all fountain drinks.

I had a similar one. The cats loved it and I had hard water too. But I usually used distilled water in it. That saved a lot of time cleaning.
