Celebrating 20 Years of Wolfenstein 3D - free web browser game
Wolfenstein 3D is being released as a free in-browser game by Bethesda Software to mark the 20th anniversary of the game’s release.
I'm having a hard time believing I used to think that game was amazing.
This game was so awesome back in the day! Can't hardly believe it came out so long ago!
ILM doesn't work :(
@zuiquan: yeah, i clicked through and tried to play it. I couldn't get the damn crosshairs to line up. I'm sure if I played it a while, I could get as good as I was 20 years ago, but I can't see myself having the patience for that
The graphics are worse than the graphics in that Windows 95 maze screen saver.
I really expected this to be better. Its the arrow keys to aim that kills it for me.
A game that does stand the test of time though is Hunt the Wumpus.
Just realize why it was so terrible to play. I watched a Youtube video and the movment was much more fluid. For me this internet version is very laggy.
I like the idea here, but as a couple of folks have said already browser + FPS = major fail.
@bogus: Tell that to Quake Live.....
Geez. Has it been 20 years already? Man how time flies...
On level 1, in the section with wood walls, press open on the poster of the eagle statue, opposite the suit of armor. Secret compartment with the submachine "looking" gun.
No lag for me. I'm running a budget desktop with FF.
Mein Leben!
Game play is smooth on my desktop, but it was really laggy on my laptop. Both browsers were Chrome.
What a fantastic game. I remember watching my Dad play this game when I was younger and hiding in the other room whenever he got to a boss.
Wow this was a perfect port!!! At least on my computer, sorry to hear anyone else had issues! I cant believe i remembered where most of the secret passages were after all this time haha.. but it sucks ya cant save :(
Awesome. I remember the original Castle Wolfenstein, too, along with the knock-off Castle Smurfenstein on the Apple II+.
This will be my day tomorrow. Thanks! Also forwarded to my dad, this is one of his favorite games
wow! thanks for posting this!!
i wish i remembered the name of the first 3D maze game i saw - it was for the apple ][, and had wire-frame walls. the graphics in wolfenstein, in comparison, were awesome. i can't believe it was twenty years, either.
oh well. it's like kermit the frog says:
"time's fun when you're having flies . . ."
%^)
@the7654: Wow. Why all the hate? What I said was true and I certainly didn't mean it in a negative way my favorite game is Soldat which has worse graphics than one of Roy Lichtenstein's (my favorite artist) paintings.
Speaking of Soldat it just turned 10 today you should check it out.
