HP TouchPad 16GB ($99) and 32GB ($149) Selloff- Starts 8/20
HERE'S THE DEAL! HP recently announced TouchPads are being discontinued, and retailers can't get rid of stock, thus the price cuts. Don't be surprised to see retailers match these prices (Best Buy, Amazon). Best Buy in Canada has already slashed their prices on these tablets. @dman244: I'm EST. I originally saw the $499 price, but I hit the 'HP' logo at the top left corner (basically starting over) and navigated to the tablets. I think the tablet overview page still showed regular price, but when I hit the 32GB page it showed $149.99.

@divyamistry: No he's probably having some massive argument right about now, they're telling him now that he's there they can't honor the price for whatever reason. Then he's like... "But I JUST called up here and you said you would!!!" --- "Well sir I don't know, that was the new-hire Lashondaretha, she's still learning." --- "I don't care, I want my *#$#) tablet!"
I seriously think that if I can get one for $99 I will pick one up in a heartbeat. Ive been looking for a cheap tablet for my 5 year old since he keeps trying to play with my Android Tablet. This might actually do it.

the worst part about this walmart experience is that the electronics guy specifically told me that if it's a competing store, and I can show that their site has that price, then there should be no reason they wouldn't do the price match and sell it to me...Unfortunately he was on lunch break when i got there and the manager on duty was a wimpy asshole who gets by in life by expecting to never have to actually do anything like help a customer. Instead he gave me the run around about it not being the same product and then pretending he didn't have them and then pretending he didn't know where they were. And can someone explain the logic of being able to do a price match if it were $20 cheaper but not $350...as though there were some clause in their PM guarantee that said we guarantee to price match UNLESS the manager on duty is too gutless to actively make a decision in the store.

FINALLY. Yes, I have been checking for this since 11:30ish; it's now 5:00am and I have finally found these darn things. Had to wait for Walmart to lower the price and choose in-store pickup. The closest store to me did not have these reduced so I had to go with a different, but still close store. No kidding I have been refreshing about 18 tabs every 5 minutes or so. Hope this thing is worth all the trouble!
got mine at office depot. there were only 4 available and there were four of us in line. as the doors were being opened a fat middle age guy jumped out of his car and came barreling toward the doors, pushed passed us all and ran into the tablet aisle. I calmly asked the manager who opened the door for the tablets, he unlocks a closet and places them on the register. I'm finishing up my purchase and fat guy runs up 'ARE THESE THE TABLETS? HOW MANY ARE THERE?' To which manager says 'Four.' Fatty goes 'And you all in line for it? SONOFABITCH!'
This is like trying to buy a BOC!

@squirrelonfire: You know that you can walk out to the street with a cardboard sign that says "HP Touchpad for $225 cash" and be out there less than 5 minutes before it was sold. But, you would rather have waited on the phone with HP for an RMA number and plug the $500 iPad 2? I think someone isn't being forthright about their apple fanboy status and trying to make a statement.
they just announced that they were killing off the mobile webos.... so its going to be real cheap real soon
Damn... I would have been all over this. WebOS was is by far the best mobile OS. It's a shame that HP is throwing in the towel so soon.
Hah. Called Wally World, the woman that answered the phone either hates her job, or has had a lot of people already ask and has been told to not answer. She said "I don't know... I don't know..." in this really defeated tone. Sorry, can't confirm this true or false off of at least the one store I called.
I can navigate between both pages; HP part: EPP00FB359UA#ABA is the 474.99 one and HP part: FB359UA#ABA is 149.99. Maybe this will help someone?

I'm number 33 in a queue with HP customer support. Hopefully I'll have some answers for you all. I've been waiting for 2 hours 20 mins.
If we ever get a port of Android or Windows 7 on these, they will become valuable with the ports on ebay.
Don't forget before they released this, hp was using it to show off their windows 7 tablet but then they bought palm so I wouldn't be shocked to find somebody running windows on one of these bad boys.

Just saw "More Than 10" available in the Datavis store on eBay. $120 for 16gb, $170 for 32gb. If you can't get into their site and still want one, get it from them on ebay. $6+ shipping.
