HP TouchPad 16GB ($99) and 32GB ($149) Selloff- Starts 8/20
HERE'S THE DEAL! HP recently announced TouchPads are being discontinued, and retailers can't get rid of stock, thus the price cuts. Don't be surprised to see retailers match these prices (Best Buy, Amazon). Best Buy in Canada has already slashed their prices on these tablets. BB Canada Link, which ends 8/22/2011: http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/hewlett-packard-hp-16gb-touchpad-with-wi-fi-16gb-wifi/10173116.aspx?path=24aa74e36d1cba4ce76fdd5a9f3298cfen02
This is such bull, it's still $499
When you say you got an order say what store!!!!
@apfrehm: Second on the 'hopes someone hacks Android soon' comment. I just bought an Acer Iconia less than a month ago, and my 6 year old loves 'Angry Birds' and a few other games. I'd love to get Android going on this so I can give him the Iconia.
@iggz: I'd say yes. At the very least, it is still a good set of hardware with a decent OS with an interested community. At best, it may some day have Android. A lot of people on xda-developers are interested in this, to the point of donating money to get it done.

At under $150 for a 32GB tablet of good specs, I'd be more than willing to donate $20 towards getting Honeycomb, or maybe even Ice Cream Sandwich, ported to the Touchpad. Even without, it still looks pretty capable as a browser / media player. Enough to get one I can let my kids use in the car even if it never gets Android.
im in ohio its after midnight and still full price everywhere grrr
Try Tiger.com or the many web-sites that carry electronics. One never knows do one?
I'm central time and at 11:03 16gb is sold out and its still full price for me...no matter how I located it on hp academy..HELP!
@phycon: Time is supposed to be 7am but they'll be sold out by then.
okay, i was skeptical but i got it to work as a student. Live in EST time zone and im sitting in Seattle airport as i bought two. this does work. only worked for hte 32GB one though (and i had to go to hp logo top left, click that and flow through navigation to get to tablet link)
Check damn near every site that has touchpads at 12:01 and no change
This is crap. It still shows up as $499 for me.
Well I give up. I was interested in the 16GB for less than $100 with the coupon, but since they're still "sold out" on that model, I'm throwing in the towel.
Don't want the 32GB model even though it's just another $50 more.
I really dont need a tablet already have a desktop computer, a laptop, an iPad, and a smartphone. But at $99 it was a steal I couldn't pass up IF I could even get my hands on one.
@maddwakester: How????????
@keithis1: Some people seeing sale price, some not. Call HP if not showing sale price or you probably won't get one unless b.b. sells them for sale price.
@maddwakester: how and where did you get it to work
I do not see at either 100 or 149 on any websites. I am EST.
Just got it on the HP Academy website a few minutes ago!
HP TouchPad Wi-Fi 32GB $149.99 ($121.13 after discount)
HP Office Recycled Paper (500 sheets, 8.5 x 11") $5.94 ($4.80 after discount)
Instant discounts you received: $30.00 Coupon
Order subtotal $125.93
Shipping (Standard 5-7 Business Days) FREE
FL Tax $8.82
Grand total $134.75
You can use the "SAVE30HP" code if you include a regular priced item. The cheapest one I found was the filler paper for $5.94.
Quick question... since they're all getting discontinued and will be available at around a hundred bucks soon, is there any resale benefit to buy in bulk?
@aobfrost, I'm in the same boat you are. I REALLY REALLY want one, I don't have an ipad, but have an android phone, and iphone, and a perfectly good computer. It'll be a total of 133 on the website, I could get it, but...do I really need it? I probably would have gone for the 16gb model tho. Would love to try and hack this thing.
@czupik: & @bigcbass: make sure you register on the HP website using an EPP code or a School code, empty your cart (if you already have one in there), start over at the HP homepage (by clicking the HP logo - top left corner), then navigate to the tablets.
@jkilzi: Ah hell, I'm in for one now! I'll shell out $30 more.
lulz I think the people claiming to have purchased it for 99/149 in the US are just trolling / smoking some good product. HP reseller portal and retail websites showing 399/499
What the hell, I bit. I hope I don't regret it.
Got the 32GB Tablet and some paper for $131.10 shipped

To the people who can't see the deal, YOU HAVE TO BE SIGNED INTO HP ACADEMY!

Just a thought . . . most online retailers are NOT in the east, and Amazon, for example, doesn't go by Eastern Time. I don't know if anything will be different, though. It's surely going to hurt those ebay sellers!
HP phone shopping is a no go..."due to technical difficulties the call cannot be completed". That was after I worked my way through the automated system.
@jkilzi: i dont think so
I finally got it to work for me by clicking the round HP button in the top right corner and then navigating to the HP touchpad by going through the shop for products and services menu then tablets, then clicking shop now where it says starting at $399, then clicking on the"buy now from HP" under the 32GB one. The 16 GB showed the $99 price, but it showed sold out.
I tried other ways before and it didn't work for me, but this did, so try it. Also, I used an academy account. If you use the "SAVE15HP" coupon, you also get $15 off.
Good luck!
Im central and was able to pick up 2 32 gb models ~ 5 mins ago (site lagged a bit while inserting my information). Super happy :) Dont forget SAVE30HP
im still not seeing it. im following everyones steps but nothing
How do I sign up for HP Academy if I'm not in school? Is it possible? I'm willing to go $130 for a 32 gig
By the way, the code is SAVE30HP, you can use the code if you add something small to your cart. I found some paper or something for $5 you could add.
Bought the 32GB model with a ream of paper, and used the SAVE30HP coupon posted above. My total came out to $133 shipped.
Amazon is based out of Seattle, maybe a 12:00 am PST price change?
I'd honestly rather have the 16GB for $85, I wonder if it will be back in stock.
Cleared out my cookies, and even my temp files, still showing up at 499 for me- grrrrrr.
@drunkskunk: Use Chrome Icognito, then be sure to navigate to the tablet page via the dropdown menu on the homepage, that was the key for me.
sweet baby jebus, snagged a 32g one after logging in a few times off the HP site awesome deal thanks!
$475.30 in the cart at Amazon for the 32g as of 9:24 pacific
that navigating from the top left HP button isn't doing jack. incognito from Chrome doesn't do anything neither.
Just got mine for 134.99!!! Here are the links: Good Luck http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/product/rts_tablet/rts_tablet/1/storefronts/s/FB355UA%2523ABA?jumpid=in_r11694_webos_tablets_jun11_touchpad16gb
YOU HAVE TO COPY AND PASTE THE URL :)
this is not working , this is a joke
Tips above worked for me from Seattle. I went through the hp academy (college grad) added 32 gb for $149.99 and the paper for $5.94, used "save30hp" for total $137.90. Thanks everyone.
The hp logo does work. I'm on the east coast and registered as an alumni.
@kwrights: this method worked for me. I had a student account and used whatever the newest version of IE is. MAke sure you click the Shop thing at the top, not the large graphic in the center of the page
Anyone who wants proof, here's a screenshot I took before checking out. I got my confirmation email too. Won't know if it's for real until it actually ships...They could cancel my order at any time if they really wanted.

Hey folks who successfully got it on the cheap-- are you, by any chance, in Canada?? That seems to be making a poop-ton of difference at this point.
As already stated the HP logo trick does work, it took a few tries, but I got it to work. I am now waiting on a confirmation email, I'm starting to wonder if they are going to cancel my order or something though.
in maryland. finally got it to work. $134.60! thanks and good luck!
I can navigate between both pages; HP part: EPP00FB359UA#ABA is the 474.99 one and HP part: FB359UA#ABA is 149.99. Maybe this will help someone?
edit: if you've got academy, try deleting the EPP00 from the url
To all having trouble: If you have registered as a student or under an EPP number, look in the right column for "Just for you" and under that click "Visit your HP Exclusive Offers Store". Then navigate back to the homepage and click your way through to the tablets.
