Ummm... I think you guys are missing the context here. The Odor Shield is for the cook to hold up in front of themselves for protection to ward off the 'stink eye' their self righteous skinny friends throw at them when they ask 'Hey, that smells good. What'cha cookin'?'.

I can't say whether or not this is a good deal, but there is something to be said for a cover for your pan while you fry chicken- simply because without one, oil is gonna spatter everywhere.

That said, I fry my chicken on an open pan. Love them odors.

I got this on groupon for a higher price and I love this pan. I pan fry thighs in it and the splattering is way decreased because the steam from the chicken doesn't fall back into the oil. It can evaporate out the lid. The chicken still smells great while cooking. You just don't get the oil splatter you get when you cook with a regular solid lid. Plus the dome is nice. It cleans up great in the dishwasher
