Where else could you find something like this for the money? It's a great deal regardless if any of us can afford it.

vote-for28vote-against

@cowboydann: That's true. That's prime real estate. 20 acres and 2 houses plus a giant missile silo that can be converted into a mansion. $750k is a steal! Plus a runway and hangar!

vote-for46vote-against

@ebersole12: The airstrip is extra. They always get you with the fine print.
Component Pricing Breakdown

This will go great with my summer home in the dormant volcano.

vote-for13vote-against

@atd15: Well hell! Well still $750k for the house, silo, and acreage is a good deal. But i'd want it all. I hate neighbors, maybe the silo should be used for something loud to annoy them if i did have neighbors. :D

vote-for9vote-against

I hope some Wooter out there can take advantage of this great deal, too rich for my blood :(

vote-for15vote-against

@atd15: A++ on this find. Just seeing such a property was amazing! Like watching worlds coolest estates in about 5 minutes :)

vote-for12vote-against

Not so secret any more =-(

vote-for18vote-against

If I could afford the mortgage, it would come in handy for the Zombie Apocalypse.

vote-for6vote-against

I would have thought some survivalist would have bought this.
I bet whoever pumped all that money into it is kicking himself!

vote-for7vote-against

Back in the 80's/90's (the resurgence of the Grateful Dead, the rise of Phish, Burning Man, etc), 95+% of the LSD being made in the USA was being made by a small cabal of neuroscientists, physicians, & biochemists operating out of a missile silo as their base.
'twas an interesting time.

vote-for6vote-against

Gimmeit! So hope this is zoned for horses. ;-)

vote-for11vote-against

This is really neat. I'd love to own property like this. Video of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTX_MxBGGq4

vote-for10vote-against

Does the secrecy come with any sort of guarantee or warranty? I don't want ANYONE to know about my missile base.

vote-for10vote-against

@robvmin: That video is awesome. Although, whoever picked the music needs to be shot.

vote-for7vote-against

one hell of a deal and I imagine it will be sold very fast

vote-for5vote-against

if thats real its awesome, and a good deal

vote-for11vote-against

That 185' deep silo alone cost millions to drill.

vote-for7vote-against

if anyone down thumbs this, they will be found and dealt with

vote-for2vote-against

OKay, someone needs bite the bullet and call for a tour. Anyone in that area? Or, anyone own a plane?

vote-for4vote-against

It's missing something...
- a Supervillian (Killface anyone?)
- a missile in the Silo

vote-for3vote-against

I remember there was a transaction regarding this property in the early 2000s when I was reading a lot about places like it ... Unless that deal fell through, it was selling for something over 2 million USD at the time, assuming I recall correctly. The upshot of this is that even missile bases have been hit by the real estate market slump. :)

vote-for35vote-against

All your base are belong to us.

vote-for3vote-against

I thought the Deals.Woot rule is that there must be more than 10 for sale. :) No?

Any one got a GPS location for this?

vote-for5vote-against

Wouldn't it be awesome? I wish I had the cash to make this my summer home...

vote-for18vote-against

If I won the lottery tonight then I am totally buying this and everyone who commented in this thread is getting flown out for the base warming party!

vote-for4vote-against

I would give my left nut for this.

vote-for5vote-against

I guess it would be hoping for too much to ask if the silo doors were operational ?

vote-for11vote-against

@tehinternetz:
How about if they let you keep your nut, but you have to let them kick it 750,000 times?

vote-for5vote-against

Got to hope it's not still on some countries "MAD"(mutually assured destruction) target list.

vote-for11vote-against

Just realized what the silo would be awesome for....indoor bungee jumping!

vote-for5vote-against

I love that house and private airfield.

Not sure I could use the silo. Maybe I could turn it into a gym for people who have grown sick of their stair steppers.

vote-for10vote-against

This will go well with my 20 foot animatronic triceratops.

vote-for10vote-against

In for 3. Still $5 s/h, right?

vote-for11vote-against

Saw one of these where they flooded the silo and turned it into a scuba school.
at a minimum you could have the best artificial indoor rock climbing wall ever

vote-for6vote-against

Well, you can afford the video tour of each site. Each video is $24.

vote-for4vote-against

This is my 1st wish if I find a genie in a bottle. RAD !!!!!

vote-for10vote-against

"reduced from 4.5 million".
They've been sitting on this property for at least 12 years... I was working in California in 2000 when I first saw a special on TV about exotic houses, and they showed this place.
I checked back during the housing boom and they had jacked the price to something like $20Million!
Obviously they still have it (same site, Adirondack State Park), so I guess they're (still) hoping for someone rich and retired to buy it (where would you work?).

If I could, I would in a heartbeat! This place is flat out phenomenal... not to mention nearly everything-proof! (only a direct strike by a nuke or BIG meteor could damage it... I think I remember the walls being steel-reinforced 12-FOOT thick concrete!).

vote-for3vote-against

@aceatmind: Someone pulled it up on youtube, about 15 comments up

vote-for-9vote-against

@dcpotts: I thought it was some guy in the labs at Stanford... Whatever, I'd never touch that crap anyways. I now 2 people who have tried LSD, and they're pretty much the 2 dumbest people I know.

vote-for8vote-against

This is hilariously close to my house, if someone buys it (though its doubtful), I'd love to know just to meet another Wooter lol.

vote-for11vote-against

No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die...

vote-for6vote-against

I remember seeing a show on homes like these before (and links to that same website). If I had the money, I'd so buy one. When you consider how much those things actually cost to be built (even in then-dollars) what they go for now is a steal!

Besides, how could anyone expect to take over the world without their own missile silo?

vote-for3vote-against

Bad marketing! If this was posted in December I'd get a few as stocking stuffers. But you lost sales because of bad timing. Sorry!

vote-for5vote-against

I remember seeing this awhile back on TV...there are TONS of these things leftover from like the coldware era and other govt. shenanigans..

If I remember right, that one was right at $750k too.. unbelievably large concrete bunkers.. Hope there are still some of these available by the time I can afford one :)

You can keep your upper-middle-class McMansion - give me a 19acre underground paranoids-paradise any day.

vote-for5vote-against

For me the Lewis, NY location on missilebases.com is a much more tempting investment.

"This Atlas F site in the Adironback Park is already under development by Australian owner, seeking free-spirited, compatible partner/investor for further development into a unique (M.A.S.H. theme) entertainment venue suitable for dance parties and other profitable commercial uses. Detailed develpment plans with cost and profit analysis are available for examination."

How do you say no to that?
