10-Minute Solution Complete Pilates Kit: 3 DVDs, 2 Pilates Bands & Toning Ball for $14.99 + $5.00 shipping
Many a life has been forever changed in front of a television.
Has anyone tried this? Thoughts?
I'd like to know how these lessons compare to mat Pilates classes at my gym. Reviews?
The problem with any exercise equipment is that you have to actually use it, regularly.
So this is good, because it's cheap enough, that you won't be all that sorry that you end up only using it 1.5 times.
wondering the same; Amazon gives them good reviews - price seems very reasonable
With the Toning bands and ball. it is more for strength then your normal palates on a mat.. with that being said you would be able to do these workout's more then if you where to just use a mat becuase you can always make it tougher to do the excersises just by tieing a not in the bands..
Hope this helps.
The kit also works your full body
Included workouts:
- Upper Body Pilates
- Lower Body Pilates
- Pilates for Abs
- Total Body Pilates
- Pilates for Flexibility
Kit includes three 50-Minute Workout DVDs, two Pilates Bands and a Toning Ball
The ball is smaller than the DVD. Doesn't seem like that would help much. Maybe it's a super-ball and you bounce it round while exercising.
I have done some of the DVDs in this line (not these specific ones, but produced by the same company) as they are available on Netflix streaming. When I can't get to the gym or I am traveling these keep me in my workout routine.
Be warned that I didn't find them suitable for beginners. Some of the routines are quite advanced. Alternative poses are provided, but they are not explained in great detail.
The ball probably isn't used for sitting on or balance - it's too small for that. It's used as a resistance device in some of the excercises. The bands assist in stretching and can be handy to have. If I didn't already own this stuff I'd buy this - it's a great starter set.
I watched all these movies and I never lost a pound.
the product is stupid and it won't really help you lose weight or tone or whatever it is you want to do
additionally, the ball seems to small to even use to stretch
if you want to start looking better, pick up running, cycling, or swimming and start eating less
I really like the 10-Minute DVDs and own 5-6. You can do one 10-min segment or set up the order you want to do multiple segments. I have the DVD with the ball and the ball is used for toning. Good buy for the price.
I like everything about this kit except the bands. They broke on me after my third use (and I'm not a super strong gal). I've had this problem with other cheap bands, so I finally broke down and bought some Bodylastic bands and have been happy since.
The DVDs are okay. If you are a complete beginner, just take your time and do what you can. Don't do the same routines everyday and space it out in between (so do arms/shoulders one day, abs and back the next, etc.).
After three months though I did get bored with it and gave the kit (minus the bands) to my sister. I do P90X now and have for over a year. The strength routines it offers are excellent. I sub their cardio routines for an hour on the bike though so I can read.
I have a few in this series and found them to be ok, with the pilates and yoga it helps to have been to a class at the gym so an intructer has taught you the proper poses and corrected your mistakes, but then if you have been doing the gym regularly the DVDs might be too basic. The one pilates from this series I own is mostly mat work, and I thought it was a good starter dvd since you spent most of it on your back.
@nada1234: Looks like the toning ball is 22". So I don't understand how it could be smaller than the DVD. Maybe the 22" is the circumference and the diameter would then be 22"/3.14 ~ 7". (C = Pi*D). Might work as a kickball.
A good portion of the 10 minute series are available on Netflix on demand, so it doesn't seem worth it just for the gear to me.
