NOTE: This does NOT come with the 18-55 kit lens. I honestly think that is better because then you can put that money toward a lens you actually want, like a nifty fifty (I don't touch my kit lens anymore).

Pretty sure this is because they are releasing the t4i in March or April. I've been really thinking hard about if I want to get one of this model on sale/clearance, or wait for the newer/next model. Ideas, anyone? Thanks for the deal, though, this is definitely the best I've seen!

Buying a body only camera is definitely a good idea. You can save your money and get an actual good lens.

@turtlegir1: The T4i will undoubtedly feature a new sensor/image processor. Whether or not the articulated screen is kept is up for debate.

The T3i has been through the tests and it performs as a great camera. $549 body-only is an amazing price. If you need it, you need it; if you don't, you don't.

@ebobo: Thanks very much. My DSLR is circa 2006 (some digital Rebel that doesn't even have any lettering or name on it, I bought it used), so I've been thinking about an upgrade.

Also, for anyone who doesn't already use this service, check out MrRebates and search for Adorama for 3% cash back. You don't have do anything but sign up and then click through their link. 3% back on $549 is a good chunk of money! http://www.mrrebates.com?refid=448446

Just for the record, while people are saying it's good to get this without the stock lens (so you can get a better lens) -- know that the stock lens (which this does not come with, just to be clear) is pretty decent for the price.

Yes, there are better lenses. But you won't get one for anywhere near as cheap as the stock lens.

I am a Nikon man, but I cannot say too much good about Adorama. I've purchased several cameras there, and accessories and prints as well, and I give them my highest accolades.

@turtlegir1: I was close to buying one this past week and saw the t4i rumour. Only a few more days till the supposed announcement. Worth waiting to find out what it'll be. Wether buying the new one or waiting on the t3i to drop in price

Best part of the deal seems to be the free PIXMA 9000pro printer (After $400 MIR) sure it's a pretty pony upfront but looks like a sweet printer for nothing extra after a month or two.

Ofcourse the PIXMA 9500pro is also on rebate but that will cost you $250 extra AFTER you get the $500 MIR. Too rich for my blood.
